Ugh, I am only 44, why am I experiencing this? Yesterday, I felt 'dribbly' off and on during the day and I swear I was leaking urine a little bit. I just happened periodically throughout the day, not after coughing/laughing. I know incontinence can be a peri/meno symptom, but I figured that it may come much later. I don't have any other issues (I don't get up to pee at night, I don't feel sudden urges, I don't pee a lot (well, more than normal, I do drink a lot of water)). I think the worst thing is that all these peri/meno symptoms also are symptoms of MS, so I get my mind all wrapped up in me possibly having a neurodegenerative disease. :( I go see my GYN next month and my GP in March, so I'll certainly be talking with both of them about my wide range of symptoms. Maybe one of them will agree to sending me to a neuro/getting an MRI.
Hi Tebrown,
I was in my 40’s when I started noticing this. Typically from jumping or sneezing etc. It is decreased estrogen especially in that area where the tissues start thinning and the bladder has less support. There is women I work with, we are all in our 50s now, that are past menopause and have to wear pads or panty liners everyday, all day because of this issue. One woman told me, ya, this is wonderful, we go our whole life having to deal with a period for a week once a month to having to wear a pad everyday all day because of urine leakage. Unfortunately this issue doesn’t get better unless you replenish your estrogen. I think some women get surgery, a bladder sling that helps support the bladder. Myself, I went with BHRT. My incontinence is not a problem anymore. Women that have had children by vaginal birth seem to deal with this more. Bad deal for us women for sure.
yes I am not even 40 and experiencing this along with many worst symptoms of peri. l have horrible headaches, anxiety, palpitations, ear ringing so leaky bladder is least of my worries. It’s all part of peri package. check with dr. to make sure and to put your mind at ease. don’t stress about it too much because stress can make it worse. take care.
