Hello all im 17 and have anxiety and depression. I was on zoloft and it didnt work now on prozac . Its been a horrible week so far and i need motivation to keep going because i feel stuck.. thank you
Hang in there! It takes a while sometimes for the antidepressants to work. You are stronger than you think. It will pass!
I've been on Paxil for over 25 years Isabel, since they diagnosed me with clinical depression at 38. Paxil is similar to Zoloft and Prozac, it's an SSRI. They take awhile to feel the full effect, up to 6-8 weeks. But you should start feeling a wee bit better after a couple of weeks.
I have the same conditions as you, depression and anxiety. The Paxil was prescribed for a severe episode of depression I had 25 years ago. I've found that it's less effective for Anxiety and others have commented on that. When my Anxiety is really kicking in I take a Xanax (.25 mg, a very low dossage) to help me relax and sleep.
My advice to you is to relax, hang in there like J56088 said and let the medication start to be more effective. It WILL work in time, trust me. SSRI's are very effective on depression especially.
