Mouth ulcer

I have an ulcer in my inner cheek which is worrying me.  Is it cancer?  I think a sharp tooth has caused it.  Anyone had this experience?

The chances of it being mouth cancer are pretty remote, especially if you attend a dentist regularly and it also depends on how long you've had it.  I was told by a dentist that there's nothing much you can do about ulcers, he said "they take three days to come, they stay three days and they take three days to go".   I don't get them very often and I'm not sure if what he said is true.  I often get sores on the inside of my cheek, especially if I've bitten it and will keep biting it by accident which makes it feel worse but I had a sore place where there's a rough bit on one of my teeth so I got an emery board and filed the rough bit off the tooth and that solved the problem.

There are other things that cause "ulcers" in your mouth.  My sister had a sore there for months and it was diagnosed as oral lichen planus so perhaps you could look that up and see if it sounds or looks like what you have.   If you've only had the ulcer a few days then I should give it a bit longer and see if it settles down.  You could try some Bonjela which stings like mad when you first put it on but it dulls the pain but, if it hasn't cleared up after a couple of weeks you maybe ought to see your dentist or doctor about it.

If a sharp tooth has caused it then it's not cancer!?! Best go see a dentist to check out what's going on.

I agree with Spindles and I was going to suggest Bonjela too.  Another alternative, is Corsodyl.

I have oral Cicatricial Pemphigoid which also causes ulcers.
