Mri for right knee help

Hi all just wondered if anyone else suffered this.

My knee issue is from June from twisting knee and bee on going flaring up with activities.

I have a mri next week it is currently bad with swelling and very tender above knee cap with limited flexing due to pain.

But also I've noticed I have no strength to support my lower right leg when I lay on my back and I struggle to raise leg , also if I get my wife to put my leg at 90 degree angle I can't hold and it just drops with bad pain.

Anyone with thought of what's wrong. Any opinions appreciated

It could be literally anything.  Need a definitive diagnosis from an orthopedic surgeon.  Unfortunately, MRIs are often inconclusive.  I had that happen four times, 2X each knee.  In every case, the doc had to scope the knee to find and fix what was wrong.  The last time I "twisted" a knee, I ripped the condyle cartilage clean off the bottom of my left femur.  Easy removal but eventually led to a bone-on-bone situation with arthritis years later ending in a TKR.  Yours could be a torn meniscus, ACL, etc.  Maybe the MRI will show the problem...maybe not.

Hi Lawrence, as Chico said it could be a multitude of things, when I twisted my knee badly, initially I was told that I had torn my muscles and ligaments and was put in a cricket bat splint and crutches for 3 weeks, I was still getting problems a few months on and it turned out I had torn two cartilages as well, which were removed. I also had a badly osteoarthritic knee before that. I would say your quad muscles need strengthening too as I had a similar problem with lifting the leg when I had my kneecap realigned when I was 20. Ask them if you can have some support under your knee when you go into the scanner. I cannot straighten my knee fully so need that whenever I have a scan. Hope you get sorted soon.

Hi Lawrence I totally agree with the guys who have already replied you can't diagnose the problem without the tests to then find out what is wrong you need a professional opinion and diagnosis good luck
