Hey everybody, new here. I'm actually in the military and have had lower back pain since I was about 17. I'm now about to turn 20 but ever since I"ve joined the military my back pain has just gotten worse and worse until about 11 months ago I finally went to get it looked at. After going back to physical therapy over and over again with no results I finally got an MRI scan. i got it to day and was looking at the results and found something peculiar but I can't find out what it is for the life of me. It almost looks like a chipped vertebrae or something? I can't get to the docs until sometime next week and the suspense is killing me. If anyone knows anything or has a guess I'd love to hear it. Well in the most general of terms it's what's called degenerative disc disease
Is that possible, being so young I mean?
It must be because the image isn't lying, compare to the other discs, there isn't much disc left there at all It's only 'suggested' that it's age related, read for yourself

I'd say you've had an infection in there at some point, hence the (I'm not sure of the technical term / s) scalloping and ingress of the darker material
You are correct !!
Thanks I fear that this chaps military career might be over
What type of infection? Could it be possible that I've just had a ruptured disc? Here is the disc from a different angle
And another angle

Tyler ,I had contracted ecoli and a type of staph, both, in my nervous system, dude in my spinal area and vertebra after my first surgery.. The way they finally found out what was the problem was thru 3 spinal taps..
I thought I was a gone... Words can`t explain the pain, I literally thought a human could not with stand pain to this level. I had mussle attacks that were herendous.. I was completely paralysed for appr. 3 to 4 months..Flat on my back ! Had to learn to walk again!! I`m not just telling you this, but I think that the infection was contracted from surgery.. I don`t know for sure , could have been there before I had surgery, then that exposed the tissues. Heck I`m just glad I can walk now, any...... Glad i`m alive...
Any time you have pain , there is a problem of some sort.. Your not suppose to live in pain, period! Muscle sorowness and cramps, spasms is one thing, but not what i`m relating to.
Dude i`m seriosly not trying to scare anyone but please be aware of your bodies feelings and follow up...
Benny I sure hope not, for his sake, but you just don`t ever know..
I used to take simple things in life lightly , but not now!!
If it's what I'm begining to think that it might be then (according to the patient.info oracle) it was (or is) a Staphylococcus aureus infection
