Recent MRI scan after ongoing stomach pain reveals a 2mm cystic lesion in the head of the pancreas. I am now waiting for a further review from the Gastroenterologist. I know nothing about cystic lesions and am a bit apprehensive that I may have something sinister. Anything to do with the pancreas fills me with dread ! Also the MRI showed a small cyst on the liver.
You may need a biopsy to see what the cystic lesion is to help your GI decide on what treatment you will need.
O.K. thanks. I take it that a biopsy would mean a general anaesthetic ? Maybe it is done while having an endoscopy ?
If you have a pancreas needle procedure, this will be done under local anaesthetic. If you have a EUS (endoscopic ultrasound), this is done under sedation or in some cases, general anaesthetic.
