Hi everyone.
I’m new in this forum, I have a MRI on my small bowels tommorow. Anybody know how long will take for results?.
Also, I got referred for this due to having a faecal-calprotectin test. Gp suggested level should be under 50 and mine was 117, I believe that is still low when I have seen people on various groups who have levels in the 1000s!
So my question is. Could it be raised for any other reason other than Chrons/Colitis?
Thanks in advance
Other causes of high fecal calprotectin could be celiac disease. I have read that a level of 250 and above is considered to be high.
Thank you Pippa, I had celiac test and come back negative. Oh yes I agree with that, I’ve sookeb to oeoooe with levels in the 1000s but also people in the 100s and being diagnosed
If the MRI shows nothing, ask for a colonoscopy to see if there is any inflammation in your colon (large intestine) which may point to IBD.
Thank you. I will certainly do that. Have you had MRI on small bowels before?
Just concerned as I’m going away Monday for a week, so need to call the secretary off my consultant to see how long the wait is for the results
I have never had an MRI on my stomach (small bowel). I did have an abdominal ultrasound which showed nothing. I had a fecal calprotectin test, h pylori test, urine test and celiac test which were also negative. I was diagnosed with IBS which has much improved over the three years I have had it.
