MRI

Hello all, I finally have my appointment through for my MRI..my question is , will my GP be sent the results ( if so how quickly?) or do I have to wait the 2 months until I see my consultant ?

Thanks

Your GP will be sent the results yes. Tou then need to get on to him/ her to get the results and to then refer you for a consultation. As you say, on the NHS this will take a good couple of months.

Great ,thank you, I have my consultation booked already for end of February

When you know your GP has the report, you should also get your copy in the post. Even if the GP has it,, it doesn’t mean it’ll get read! I check through all ours ( 8 clinics for my husband, 3 for me) & ensure any “action for GP”  that may exist, gets addressed.

I have had Meds altered, blood test needed, and if I hadn’t stayed on top of things like that, I really don’t know where we’d be!

just left hospital myself, with a controlled drug as one of my Meds. The discharge papers say GP to sort this at end of the week.  I’ll be lucky if the letter is scanned onto my file inside two weeks. So it’s vital to stay on top of things.

Hi, thanks for your reply!

I had my MRI on Saturday and I asked when I Would get my results, she said that I will get them when I see my consultant (which is at the end of February) I asked if my GP will recidvd the results , she said no as the consultant needs to see me before being referred back to doctors if necessary! It seems a long wait!!

I do agree. I’m not sure about report on the scan x my husband just Now commented to me how my hospital discharge note only said no trapped nerve. Nothing more. We have decided to pay for a consultation with a spine specialist. My friend used him. It turned out he had cysts on his spine. A very quick operation, and recovery time. I will then ask to be referred on to his NHS list.  If you can find the funds for the consultation it’s useful. I don’t know what we’d do if surgery is mentioned. That costs mega £££ if not on a health plan. Anyway, one step at a time.
