I can sometimes be a little touchy in mood and don't mean or want to be ... bowel habits well they could be better. .. of late I've been under some stress and notice my words arnt coming out properly and being very forgetful. .. I've had numerous sore throats and double vision my optician says there is no change in my vision warranting new glasses. I'm scared of going to the Dr's but mum is noticing these little signs the ones she sees anyway and wants me to go the the GP ... scary stuff hey? Thanks for listening and taking the time to read my concerns.
Hi ,
My mum has MS also and it can be so very frightening ! When you see the struggles they go through daily you hope and pray that it won't happen to you also , the important thing to remember is MS is NOT hereditary, it's genetic , it's very rare for it to be passed on to children of a parent that has the disease, although it is not unheard of eithier my advice would be to go and get checked by your GP just to be safe and monitor your symptoms , I myself got into a state a few years back convinced myself that I had it , I had body wide symptoms muscle twitching all over , tingling , itching , bruising , lightheadedness, bone pain , swollen glands , shooting pains all over neck and shoulder pain , I went to throw to the doctors and was diagonised after 3 years of symptoms as having contracted Lyme disease it's taken me a long time to recover and I'm no where near cured but I was so freaked out by MS at the time that it was all I could think about , make sure you get checked out because it could be something else , good luck xxxx
I know but always get it checked out no matter how small it is . Look at me suffered a brain heammorrage at 25 ,3 weeks on life support me, pulse cut out , radiotherapy , so many ops to the brain , diabetes caught me out at 29 so have to take 4 injections a day with blood tests each time and doing that with one arm working is tuff , now that I have broken my wrist but I still smile that's the only thing you can do lol so go to the doctors please ..... X
Also have your B12 checked. There have been instances where a B12 deficiency was initially misdiagnosed as MS. Your level should be in the upper half of normal range or you may be deficient. Neurological symptoms are known to occur in the gray area of 200 - 500 pg/mL (US units) or ng/L (in the UK).
What's the difference between genetic and hereditary, I have MS my mum (passed Oct) had MS my sister (passed 28 month ago) was diagnosed Parkinson's but my neuro said probably ms and my other sister ms. My own daughter has ms symptoms but won't chase up appt. I'm not trying to scare people. It's just a fact.
