Hi so I’ve been on 20mg Citalopram for about 6 months, for the past few months I’ve been getting horrible twitching throughout my whole body, usually when at rest but I mean I get a lot of twitching. I have already seen doctors and had all the bloods done, could this be a side effect of the medication after all this time? I never had these twitches before I started it, never the less I will be tapering off just to see if they go away. Would like to know if anyone else has had a similar experience with this medication or something similar, thank you.
I too had them. I’m slmost a year in and its smooth sailing now. I still have the occasional off day, but overall, I’m happy to say it has changed my life. The med has brought me from a very scary place. I’m living again.
hi, im reducing and get this its horrible but not the worst withdrawal symptom, be careful to taper off properly x
HI Stiffers
I have experienced this when increasing dose of citalopram, it takes a few months but it does pass. A bit annoying but feeling more like my old self was worth putting up with.
Citalopram has been my life saver
Take care
Yes, a side effect of the medication. I’ve been on citalopram about 8 months now or so and still get it occasionally at night. I figure if the benefits outweigh the negatives I’ll continue on.
Pretty sure I had this also with the zoloft that I was on years ago, I guess its just a side effect of antidepressants.
think its mainly ssri’s ive read of some people having it for years after they stop x
Luckily mine went away for the most part after 5 months or so, but yes you are correct I also believe that is an SSRI thing.
Thank you for all the replies, coming off the tablets and hope to see some improvement. Does anyone know how long it would take to for all the symptoms to go away?
