Muscle twitching in legs, arms and face is it ALS/motor neurone or health anxiety

Hi, i am a 26 year old male and relitively healthy. Two weeks ago i developed a twitch in my left calf, it was annoying and did not pose too much of an issue. Since then my twitching is still mainly in my left leg(thigh, calf, knee and foot) however the odd twitch in my right leg, right arm and face can be felt.

I googled the possible reason and ALS and motor neurone disease pages were the most prominent in coming back! Since this i have been constantly worried about this and the twitches are getting worse.

Been to the doctors to explain this and i have to go back in another week or so! I dont know if i am getting worse with the twitches due to a condition or due to anxiousness about possibly having ALS/ motor neurone, i am considering going for a private consultation with a neurologist but i cannot really afford this.

if it were als that starts with muscle weakness extreme like can't pick up a blow drier muscle twiches come later so you would be very aware something was wrong so you can stop worrying about als. Hope this helps I had the same fear but looking more into it found out twitching is not a first symptom

Stevie PLEASE read this!

When I was in my 20s, I suddenly developed several really scary sometimes including muscle twitches in my arms, legs and just basically all over. I did have a history of anxiety starting as a child. It build up upon itself until finally showed itself  as symptoms.

I want you to know that I am now in my 50s and doing very well. Everyone of those symptoms including the twitches was due to anxiety and stress. Many athletes get these twitches all the time with how they use their muscles.

You are way too young for a motor neuron disease. People with ALS may get this but it’s at the later stage.

Twitches can be seen for number of different reasons not only serious reasons. Sometimes people have low electrolytes, stress and anxiety, athletes, etc. Please don’t Google this because you will drive yourself crazy  and it does not pertain to your individual situation.

Your  twitches are getting worse because of being anxious about it. Think about anything in your life that may be causing you some stress or anxiety whether it be family, work, relationships etc. Anxiety has a way of present  it’s self is neurological symptoms because it affects the nervous system. Any symptoms related to anxiety will not hurt you even though they could be scary.

most muscle twitches are called benign fasciculations, not harmful.

follow up with your doctor so that you can have peace of mind. But I think you’re going to be just fine. Work on the anxiety or visit a counselor who can help.

even now I may get a twitch here or there when I’m anxious about something but I basically ignore it and it goes away. Have a great day! ❤️😁👍

Thank you so much for replying, you have provided me a little peace of mind! Definitely going to follow up with the doc and hopefully i can find someway to sort the health anxiety i feel
