muscle wastage

hi my son broke his collor bone had a plate put in in june 2013 had alot of pain in march 2014 now found out alot of muscle wastage in shoulder blade and doc and physio keep onabout scaptula ??   he has alot of weakness pushing arm sideways carnt do pressups or weights ,had mri today and nerve test and the doctor doing the nerve test kept saying to the other doctor alot of peripherals ,and mentioned the scaptula again ,what could this mean Thanx

he meant there were a lot of nerves present .  The peripheral nerves link the body areas to the central nervous system in the spine.  Scapula is the shoulder bone.  Your son will need physio anyway to recover the muscle wastage.

Thanx I know this and he as been having physio since March I have now got him booked in with the senior physio at a well known rugby team Monday, but what's bothering me is that the consultant said he carnt play rugby as he will end up with a disabilitiy for rest of his life. I carnt understand why nerves should just stop working if it's not damage compressed or a tear n he said it's nowt do with the clavicle break or surgery, don't make Sence, my question his so what is it and why they not investigating further.  Thanx Ann

the recovery period will be a long time and future games of rugby could jeapordise the shoulder injury causing disability.
