I'm 3 months out and it feels ike I still haven't built up muscle in my hip area. It looks like I have a little dip on the side of my thigh. Should my muscles be stronger at this point or am I hoping for too much yet?

Hi Miele I think it depends how you were before the operation, and your age...Loads of variables and how well you eat, and your level of activities?? Just give us more infomation please. Ian.
Hi again Miele,
remember that THR surgery is major surgery and muscles, tendons have been severed - your muscles are getting stronger - repairing and healing is taking place -
with patience, doing your exercises and a lot of TLC you will get there ... as a matter of fact, you are on your way already !!!!
warm hug

Hi Meile,
I have a dip aswell, it's where the scar is, and has healed , so I think it's pulled in the surrounging tissue, if that makes any sense lol, as for muscle weakness, as Ian says it depends on how you were before the opp, please tell us more.
Lynne.
It really takes time to heal first and then build up. A stationary bike would be a great way to do it.It's non weight bearing so that exercise would not stress your hip
I know my right thigh looks thinner than the left because of some muscle being cut away, even at 10.5 weeks i still get a ache in the thigh if i have done too much and sitting down for more than 2 hours i feel really stiff, i havent had physio just plenty of walking when i feel like it, though i still walk with a stick if i am going to have a long walk.
I agree with all who have answered you. My problem is the swelling on my rump which I believe I wrote about earlier. We all heal so differently.
