Hi everybody
I have a sister-in-law who gave birth to a child through vitro fertilization. The baby is now 9 months old and he’s 2.5 more fat than a regular baby. She doesn’t give him food in excess and she is still feeding him with breast milk.
I think it’s not normal, it must be a disfunction. They went to a doctor and he said the baby is at the superior limit of weight..
I appreciate any feedback.
Thank you,
Elena
Where is he on growth charts? Maybe his growth rate is slow. Growth is more important than weight at 9months. The babyfat usually lessens when they start walking and become more active. Many chubby babies become tall lean adults...But is there a family hx of diabetes?
I dont think his growth rate is slow. He is tall. He is heavy and because of that when he tries to stand up, with his hands clung of something, he drop back.
In my cousins family, no. In the mother of the baby, I dont know but I dont think so.
If their doctor is not concerned, and the mother of the baby is not concerned, I don't think you need to be concerned. They are well aware of what the baby looks like. Many chubby babies lose their chub rolls when they start crawling and walking.
If he had a thyroid problem his growth would be slowed. Too soon to tell if he'll be overweight. Obama was a chubby child too.
Thank you for your replies.
It doesnt seem that his growth is slowed. It must be about his metabolism.
The mother is probably afraid to know that his baby is having a problem and I dont trust doctors in Romania.

Once he starts running around and become more active the baby fat will melt away and more important is his growth rate and growth needs a lot of calories and protein and fats. As long as she doesnt give him junk food I wouldnt worry. Hell need the babyfat for when he grows more...
