Hi my son 6.5 years old has a diagnosed colobama in his left eye since 2 weeks old.
The coloboma mainly affects his iris but he does have a few strands coming off his retina, his coloboma is quite large a full size drop of his pupil.
He is very careful of his eye as light really does effect him but so far has not been prescribed glasses, he is due his yearly review in June.
A few days ago we were called into his school his writing is at the end of every line so on right is slanting in a arch downwards, the teachers have stated they do not at all believe he is aware he is doing this and gets quite upset with his work, if he has a smaller book such as a A5 size or slim book his writing does not arch over at the far side.
I have spoken to the eye clinic and they are going to see if they can send a cancellation appointment through.
Im asking if any one who has experience of this condition has had similar issues with writing and if you found anything helped.
My child's teacher is fantastic and still giving him full marks as his spelling is spot on, but she also has never taught a child with coloboma in 25 years so she can't make an informed decision on his writing yet.
