My cholesterol went from 207 to 303 within 3 months

I had been on Zolft many years ago and it worked well for me.  I had to change to Effextor due to that being the only anti-depressant that did not have a negative interaction wit Tamoxifen.  When I completed the tamoxifen, I went back to Zoloft and started on 50 mg. I had had high cholesterol and did not do well with statins so I started taking fish oil. In December while on 50 mg of Zoloft and fish oil, my cholesterol went from 265 to 207. I increased the zoloft to 100 in Jan. (with no other changes) and in March, my cholesterol jumped to 303. I've asked my Dr. if there is a link between Zoloft and Cholesterol and was told no.  I decided that since that is the only thing that changed, I would decrease the zoloft to 50mg and take more fish oil and check it is a month.  Has anyone else seen an increase in cholestrol with 100 mg of zoloft (or an increase)?  Has anyone been able to determine if there is a link?

Thank you!!!

Yes. Same happened to me. My clolesterol was good before taking Sertraline. It has now jumped to over 300 like yours.

I am trying to get off this drug as it has so many negatives.

SO, three people on this forum report tinnitus induced by setraline and now cholesterol concerns. I have T worsened by sert. although ENT says not possible!!

Will book a cholesterol check appt. thank you for the information.

Same! Incredibly, I had to be my own detective. The higher the sertraline dose, the higher the bad cholesterol numbers went. Specialist doctor said "it shouldn't happen" and suggested possibly starting on a statin which I was reluctant to do. Changed meds. In five months, numbers went from mid 300s down 75 points. I'm not a medical professional, but it was pretty clear the medication was elevating cholesterol. grrrrr
