My confession.... šŸ˜±šŸ˜‹

So, anyone's that aware of my previous posts knows I'm going thru very trying times right now....ie, California wildfires to just name one. Last night, I decided to give myself a MUCH needed break. I watched one of my favorite movies (Bridesmaids) and proceeded to "indulge" in a pint of my favorite ice cream (31 flavors, pralines and creamšŸ˜‹). I've recently found it to be true....I'm an emotional eater!šŸ˜• ordinarily, this wouldn't have been a problem as I've never had to worry bout these things....alas, that was prior to prednisone!! ok all you "Carbs Police", this is only a confession and not a license to kick sand in my face!....I KNOW carbs are a big "No no". My point is, we're ALL human. Sometimes we just be more kind to ourselves (and each other!) Just sayin..... will try and do better today!

P.s…this post is directed to those of us whom Aren’t perfect, who DO make some poor decisions (at times!)…and are struggling to make this all work!!!
Just keep Swimming, swimming, swimming!:fish::tropical_fish::fish::tropical_fish::grin:

I am smiling. In light of the trials you have been through, a little ice cream is a good thing.
My confession? Chick-fil-a has their peppermint milkshakes right now.
Oh. My. Goodness. They are a cure for all that ails (for a few minutes.)
Enough said.
We want the fires, smoke,..all to go away for CA. Thinking of you daily.
Take care. MariGrace

Hi lynda62707

I think we are all entitled to pamper ourselves and give ourselves a treat on the odd occasion. What you have been going through with your PMR and eye problems and the horrendous situation in Cali at the moment you so deserve it.

It’s been a tough time for the folk who have been in the heart of the fires and those around and about who have been affected by the fires in some way. We are all with you lynda willing and praying for this dreadful occurrence to come to an end.

Right lynda you’ve inspired me…i’m off to make a nice cuppa and treat myself to large slice of gateaux…Bon Appetite!..:shortcake::teacup_without_handle::blush::hugs::revolving_hearts:

Lol MariGrace…peppermint stick ice cream is my ALL TIME FAVORITE!..especially at this time of year!!
For a short while last night, I didn’t feel my throat was on FIRE!!
all hail ice cream!

mare…what’s gateaux?? (sorry, remember I’m an American!):grin::two_hearts:

I know. Yum. Bought a large shake and shared it with my husband.
Have a half gallon in the freezer and it might become a peppermint pie for Christmas. Ice cream will help the throat. .. and frayed nerves, too.
Feel better. We have a house full of sick people. They need to get well. We are trying. My goal is to ā€œnotā€ get it. Take care!!
MariGrace

Hi lynda62707

It’s a gooey chocolate and cream cake with strawberries on top…i think gateaux is french for a gooey cake:thinking::hugs::joy:…Mmmmm it was delicious!..

Dear Lynda,

I too am thinking of you and how I can’t even imagine what it must be like to be dealing with PMR and WF’s. If I were you, I’d be eating ice cream all the time, and I wouldn’t have any fingernails.
So, are we not suppose to eat carbohydrates, while harboring PMR? How can we not?
If one were not on a tight budget, is there another way to get enough protein, without the carbs, and without spending a wad in the kitchen as well?

Ohmggg mare! that sounds scrumptious!
I LUV Ooohey, dooey moist cske! what a treat.
:scream::face_with_crossed_out_eyes:what shall we do with the holidays round the corner?
my Texas family vacation is DOOMED!!

I have to admit Patricia…I’m REALLY being tested right now…with the holidays on the horizon, I’m afraid the ā€œtestā€ is apt to become much harder shortly! :scream::santa_claus::christmas_tree:

I think Martha Stewart had a recipe for Gateau Basque I saw. Gateau is the French word for cake, Gateaux is the plural.

You needed the ice cream treat, nothing to feel guilty about. But don’t look on the holiday season as a challenge you are bound to lose. Remember the old adage, ā€œA moment on the lips, a lifetime on the hipsā€ and find a less calorific way to celebrate the season. You will, I guarantee it, feel better physically and emotionally afterwards if you (and your loved ones?) rein in the indulgence, a worthwhile reward.

Hi lynda, glad to see you are all ok. we cannot begin to imagine what you are going through our thoughts are with you.

talking of indulgence, my hubby and myself went to a city called Leeds for christmas shopping, and found the french, german and italian markets were here, and coming home i bought for cakes from a italian stall.

when we got home we ate the lot , this was to celebrate the good news regarding my hubbies eye problems yeah!!!

take care god bless

good for you Margaret! So glad to hear of your hubbys good news!
I thought I’d feel somewhat guilty today, but oddly enough, I DO NOT!
of course I’ll be taking my ā€œsweet timeā€ to face the almighty scale for awhile…can you say, ā€œwhat you don’t know won’t hurt you?ā€ā€¦LOL:face_savoring_food::face_with_crossed_out_eyes:

Difficult times require drastic measures and sometimes it’s the carbs that hit the spot. A good film can help with some relaxation in such stressful circumstances and glad you managed to find one to suit. Best wishes, Lynda.

Can I just point out that the advice disseminated on the forums to cut carbs is ALWAYS given in response to people complaining about weight gain since they started taking pred. Much the same as the information that pred is the only sure way of dealing with the inflammation and symptoms of PMR/GCA is given to people unwilling to take pred.

No-one at all is saying it is mandatory to take pred or not eat carbs. But if you choose not to take pred you must expect to have pain, if you have GCA you are risking going blind. And if you are gaining weight and not willing to change how you eat - then you also have to take the responsibility for your decisions.

PS - and before you assign me to the carbs police, I really don’t care what you eat or why. But I WILL continue to provide the information to anyone else who can’t understand why they gain weight with pred. Once it has been explained it is up to you. But others arrive all the time - just as you did and had your questions answered.

Hi lynda

I always had a treat when i was on preds cake was my favourite…me and my daughters always say, " a moment on the tongue a lifetime on the bum":joy::hugs:

Treat yourself whenever you feel the need!!. We are intelligent enough to not to overdo it…happy thoughts Lindy-sue…:sparkling_heart:

It’s interesting, Eileen because I would have assumed it was fats and sugars and would probably have cut them out and happily eaten bread, potatoes etc and wondered why I didn’t lose weight. I lost a lot of weight when I had a gall bladder problem and cut fats and sugar.
