My doctor is sure I have hSV-2 but my test was negative?

So a couple days before I went to the doctor I noticed some “pimples” on my vagina. I went to my gynecologist and he took one look and said it was HSV-2 took a swab and gave me valtrex. The swab came back negative. Wishing 3 days the blisters went away. The only problem I had with them was when I peed it really burned and they were sore. They just went away never scabbed or anything they just disappeared. Once they disappeared I got a yeast infection. Went to the gynecology again and he said yes I have a yeast infection but he still believed I have HSV-2 just from looking at the blisters.  HE sent me for blood work but I will not know till next week my results.

1. If they come back negative could I still have HSV-2?

2. Could it have been something else since I have never had a yeast infection before and this is my first one and it is happening right after the blisters disappear?

P.S. I have only had sex with 2 people one back in August and the other back in November and I just had a possible outbreak about a week ago. Also. I only had unprotected sex with the one guy from back in August I did have protected sex with the one in November.

A good swab sample taken from two-day old lesions should be quite reliable. Visual diagnoses can be wrong. I would go with your swab results and test for HSV IgG (never IgM) in 3 months for extra reassurance.

Today my doctor called and said that I tested positive for BV. Could it still have been herpes that were the blisters? Or did I get the blisters from the BV?

BV alone does not typically cause skin issues, but yeast can.
