3mg per day for 2 weeks? If only...
Hope he doesn't get too many side effects ;-)
Hi Karen, my friends dog has been on a low dose of preds for years for a skin allergy! Regards, tina
Funny you say this becsuse my gp and i when first put on prednisone he talked about his veterinary friend and he talking about the effects of prednisone and that pets don't complain about the side effects they just get better.
So if your dog seems loopy he or she has my brain fog lol.
My golden retriever was on pred for a skin allergy. He drank more water and had to pee more often while being treated.
Oh gosh it's quiet comon then that our fury friends have to take PRED then haha xx
From what my dr. told me dogs were one of the first on prednisone and the results were miraculious thus us getting it. Simple version. But we know the side effects, so your dog peeing more often makes sence, we are up in the night doing the same, loopy brain etc. Knowing all this you now know how to advocate for your pet especially when it comes if ever to reduction.
I miss my dog, he will be gone 1 year end of march 2016. I love it when my granddog comes over but it makes traveling easier.
I had a flat coated retriever who got Addison's disease. He had to be on a high dose or pred and he got so thirsty and hungry - he was hungry all the time just like me. Poor guy. I had to take him out every 2 to 3 hours around the clock to pee. He has since passed and I sure do miss him. I must say I have a great deal of sympathy for pets since they don't know why they are experiencing what they are poor dears. Hope he gets off it soon.
Art fingers ,thank you. Hopefully my cocker spaniel will come off pred soon ,yes he is drinking lots and peeing a lot more ,bless him ❤️🐾
My son's dog has Addison's disease. She's been on Pred for about 3 years. She has put on a lot of weight and tires very quickly. They walk her twice a day for about one hour, she then sleeps most of the day (does that ring a bell?). Poor thing, I wish I could have a talk to her to make her understand! She's such a gentle thing.
