I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis about 7 years ago and, 2 years later, with nail psoriasis. My Dr used x-rays to diagnose the arthritis and warned that "psoriasis drugs could kill you!" (Really helpful).
For 4 years I've taken Methotrexate (max 22.5mg - now 10mg) but as the dose is reduced the joint pain increases (but nail psoriasis is under control).
i had a recent x-Ray (first in 4 years) and was told that the description from the x-ray specialist was that the change from orevious x-Ray was only small.
I suspect that the arthritis is related to the psoriasis but the Dr seems uninterested, almost feels like I am just a disruption (or maybe a cost) to him.
any suggestions as to what (if anything) I should do - or am I just being a whinger?
Yep psoriasis drugs can kill u. I just posted a new topic on biological grugs. That they r dangerous and not on the market for a long enough time. I have psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. Is is usually in the tips of the fingers or the last two joints then runs thru the whole hand.
Please see my post on bio drugs for RA, PsA, autoimmune suppressant bio drugs
it the last thing I need in my life right now... Big Pharma is in the middle of many law suits pushing bios before clinical trials are finished or altering clinical trial results. It in the news . Especially advertisers r ou sin them. They are not safe enough for me.
The drug my GP refered to was methotrexate which has been around for years.
The same GP said the lumps I had under the skin were "nothing", a consultant removed them all (privatley) including a tumour!
After stopping smoking a few years ago I asked the GP for some help as I was putting weight on - his response was "eat less" which, while it's logical, is like saying to a drug addict "stop injecting" - not very helpful.
I really wonder if it's the GP or me that has it wrong
No u r not wrong.. Just mabe looking in the wrong place. I have had success with weight loss programs. Met once a week at a local church or hospital. Check online for nutrition classes weight control programs available in UR neck of the woods.
