My ear seems to feel unblocked when my head is tilted forward

I have the sensation of a blocked right ear. When I speak I can hear my own voice in my right ear, which is really frustrating.That is until I tilt my head forward ( I discovered this whilst doing the ironing)! When I speak with my head tilted forward and chin towards my chest it seems to clear ! How strange, does anyone have any thoughts on this ? Also I have a lot of congestion in my throat, could this be the cause ? If nothing else I know it helps when I'm ironing !! Any advice greatly appreciated
