Even after 4 ERCP with stenting, he still had jaundice. His LFT comes out to be normal. Kindly tell if he is having Gilbert disease as i m having doubt as he never had jaundice earlier. He is 56 now

Hi I doubt many people will be experienced / knowledgeable enough re Gilbert's disease to be able to give you an honest answer. You really need to ask his GP or consultant if he has one. Good luck

Hi, I have Gilberts syndrome and its really nothing to worry about. I was diagnosed year's ago but once I'd done some research all it means is that I have a greater chance of getting jaundiced if I'm poorly. I had my gallbladder out over a year ago and didn't have any jaundice. If he has gallstones block a duct then you have a greater chance of jaundice developing with or without this. Jaundice is generally because there's a problem happening in the liver and not down to Gilberts.

Its really nothing to worry about, he won't need any meds or need to make any changes to his lifestyle with this condition its just to do with the way red blood cells breakdown in the liver. I was told by my doctor that its more common than people think and its only found out by accident when bloods are taken for something else.

I hope this helps about Gilberts syndrome.
