My first hip replacement op

hi my name is Freya and I am 69 years old. And I live in the UK Nottinghamshire area.

Had my op 4 Aug, so now home and trying to do all the right things πŸ˜… I've just found this discucussion site, whish I had found it before my op as I did not know what to expect.

we moved house 3 days before I went into hospital πŸ˜™πŸ˜™ so it is a shambles , my husband is doing his best , bless him.

just a hello to like people out there πŸ‘‹πŸ»

Welcome to the forum!! Wishing you all the best and a speedy recovery, and good healing. Warm hugs to u!! πŸ€—πŸ€—

Hi Freya! That's great that your op passed and now you are at home.

My operation will be 27 September in London. How long did you stay in the hospital, is there any pain after operation?

Best, Ira

Hi Freya

Welcome to this forum. I had total hip replacement 15 July and found this Web site so helpful and supportive. Gosh your house move was cutting it fine! Hopefully you are feeling okay and moving about bit indoors . After 4 weeks I feel stronger each day. I am 53 by way.

Take care and be kind to yourself x

Hi Freya! I'm into my 3rd week post op! I'm doing well. I can't stress enough how important it is to do your exercises every day. I think that's why I'm healing so fast! God bless your hubby and focus on you and forget the house for now. Huggs and healing sent from the Napa Valley, CaliforniaπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒ

Welcome freya

Hi Freya, my name is Ann I live near York, I am to get my new hip next Wednesday.  Good luck with your recovery. Yes the site is very good, I live on my own and it's nice to know there are others out there with similar problems.

Hi Freya,

Welcome to the hippie world and best forum ever.

Rotten luck to have your move just before your surgery but I shudder to think if it had been just after. At least this way you had a little control ...πŸ˜•.

I had my first thr in Feb and joined the forum just before, thank goodness. I am doing well but I will be better after I get my other hip done in Sept and even better once through recovery from that operation πŸ˜‰.

Have patience as recovery needs time for the deep tissue healing to take place. And judging from my own experience and of others here, the other key thing is to do your exercises. It really helps: to keep circulation strong which helps reduce swelling and pain, strengthens muscles that have languished and reduces cramping and tightened muscles and other connective tissues.

Come back anytime you need encouragement, advice of just to vent. The beauty of this forum is that members come from four continents so someone is usually here when you might be going stircrazy, and people are incredibly generous and kind and ... we have been through it and understand.

Hugs,

L

Hugs Ann. It is hard waiting isn't it? Take care.

Hi Linda! Great advice for our Newbie πŸ˜‹. I had a strange happen today. My toes on both feet( not all, just a couple) went numb for a while? This hasn't happened before? Now I'm sitting after PT and they are fine? Ever have that happen,? Have a great weekend!

Hello and welcome!!  My surgery LTHR was Aug 9 I reside in the US in South Carllina (though I am a New Yorker) came home Thursday one day not so good then this morning I was amazed how good I felt zipping around inside with my walker by 12:30 I was in bed for a nap.  I guess I over did it a bit.  I cannot imagine moving before such a big surgery, let the house be in a shanlbles and you are blessed your house is tryiing!  Take it slow on day at a time one step at a time. Annette

Ira, good luk! I am 4 days post op, yes it hurts, like th dickens, but not tht bone onbone tht is gone, my hip felt heavy and stiff an I coud not lit tht leg one bit, could not even wiggle my butt in bed. I will say each day you will see changes, you ill get better every day, before worse every day. so hang in there and good luck!!  I did not have a spinal so woke up in pain in recovery, hopefully you will have one, all the best you will do great!!!!

Annette from the US
