Hi everyone - I am at my wits end with what has been going on in my head for over two months' straight. I feel like I have the flu but I don't. My head is very heavy and tingles all over; constantly dizzy with absolutely no relief or let up during this time period. Nausea has now set in as well. I've done acupuncture four times but am not seeing improvement. I'm sure I need to give it more time; just so tired of feeling this way. Neurologist says nothing wrong but I will be having an MRI later this week to be certain. This is by far my most troubling peri-menopausal symptom. I will be going back to work in a little over a week and I don't know how I am going to be able to sit at my desk all day. Quality of life is so poor right now. Any words of encouragement are greatly appreciated! Take care.
Hi Karen! I’m right there with you. I have so many “ head” problems. I have had 2 brain MRI...all clear. I actually had a ripping migraine during 1 of them. I have not been able to work my vertigo is so bad. I just posted what my drs are having me do now...amitripyline and combo BCP. Seems to be a very common symptom amongst a lot of us. I’m sure you are not sleeping very well either...this makes it worse. I can tolerate a lot, but this dizziness is a beast! Some women say it does get better...
Thank you, Lou, I appreciate your quick reply; means a lot as I am really struggling right now. My doctor suggested I could go back on the birth control pill (I was on a very low hormone dose pill). I had gone off of it a few years' ago thinking that was causing my horrible headaches. The headaches did not stop. I have been hesitant to do any kind of HRT but I can't take anymore of this dizziness and nausea. Can't eat or sleep. I am sending you many good wishes that this new approach will work well for you!
You are welcome! I was on BCP for 20 years. Last June 2017, my 30 year old primary dr was adamant that I come off them because I turned 40. I’m healthy and do not smoke. Within a month I started up with the weird symptoms...migraines too...never had them before! I do not see her anymore! Then, Kept getting ignored because of “only being 40.” I am 41 now. Saw a lovely new obgyn today. She is early 50,s and gets it! I have a male primary and he is working on the migraine, vertigo issue. He tried telling me a few months ago it was anxiety...I tried the antidepressant for 3 months...did not help! I did it to prove a point to my primary...we are back on track now. I know it is stressful and you feel like crap...but please, if a dr is not listening or blaming everything on depression or anxiety...especially if you do not have a history of it...fire their asses! I was doing acupuncture for almost 2 years prior to all this. I had tension headaches here and there. The thing with acupuncture is...you have to go every week, then every couple weeks, etc. Insurance does not cover...so it really gets expensive.
