My high temperature went away as soon as I threw up, what did I have?

I was in work Friday night doing a night shift, everything was fine except that I started coughing a bit, but nothing serious. I arrive home Saturday morning still with a bit of cough but feeling ok.

i go to bed after my night shift and I can't fall asleep because I start feeling ill. I check my temperature and it is 38.3

i take paracetamol 1000 but it does nothing, temperature goes up to 38.6

at this point I'm really ill and coughing a lot, only a few hours after coming back home from work with basically no symptoms.

im coughing much worse at this point and the temperature is making me feel really ill, I can't get out of bed. I sleep Saturday night with the temperature not going down even though I'm taking paracetamol before going to bed.

Sunday I spend it all in bed, I can't move or keep my eyes open because my head and eyes are killing me.

i keep taking paracetamol 1000 every 4 - 5 hours but my temperature is 39.0 now.

then Sunday night at about 2 in the morning I throw up even though I hadn't eaten almost anything all day, definitely hadn't eaten anything in the past 12 hours.

vomit looked like bright green urine with strikes of blood in it.

my husband took me to A&E at this point who dismissed me quite quickly saying the blood was only coming from the throat because I tore the tissue in it with too much coughing before throwing up.

The thing I really want to have an explanation about is: as soon as I threw up my temperature disappeared. They checked it in A&E not long after I threw up and it was 37.5, this is only a few hours after I checked it the last time when it was 39 even though I was taking paracetamol. Then I went home and checked the temperature and again it was 37.5.

so what was it about vomiting that made my temperature go away?

It could have been a stomach bug in which you can get ill really fast and then in about 48 hours you get better. Usually there is vomiting as well. I had one that I threw up and had the runs at the same time. Within 48 hours I was better. My advice is to keep an eye on things if the fever returns go back to the hospital. Fever that persists or is over 104 degrees F is really harmful. I had a fever when my kidney was infected and it went from 101 to 104.5 in about 3 hours at which point I was rushed to the hospital and put on antibiotics. It nearly went to 105 at which point can be fatal. So really keep an eye on that.

Hi MagdalenMac

What work do you do? I think your temp kept going up because the paracetamol was not absorbing because you you hadn't eaten for 12 hours. All the paracetamol probably made you vomit and out came the pathogen that was making you ill.

Glad your feeling better.....besr wishes....

Sorry meant 'best wishes'
