He was in a bad car accident.... I am scared I won't know how to help him he just had surgery Thursday and I know its knew but he seems in so much pain what can I do
Just be there for him . I can't comment on after an accident but he prob needs lots of tender loving care and patience from you . Good luck to you both
Perhaps you should talk to his doctor about how to help him. I had a total hip replacement but that is nothing like a shattered pelvis. I would get some professional advise if I were you. Surely they will send him home with some care instructions, I would hope. He will also let you know when he needs assistance with something.
Good luck and I hope he has a speedy recovery,
Kathee
Hi
Sorry I'm having a thick moment......had he fractured the pelvise before the hip operation? or afterwards?
I'm sorry......I think the best thing to do is talk to the consultant or even the GP to get some help.
Hope he recovers soon

Oh you poor thing. Please don,t worry, I,m sure you will get the support you need before he comes home. You must still be traumatised and in shock, you need time to get used to the situation. He will be in a bit of pain, but hopefully they will get it under control. You must be so scared and feel your alone, but you are not. Just be there, with a smile, to reassure him. If I can do anything or you just need an ear, please write again. Suexxx
Ask to see a doctor and ask about pain relief. This must have been a terrible shock for you and it's very upsetting to see him in pain. Thank goodness he has survived. Do ask to talk to a doctor and be honest about how you are feeling. In private of course. I hope things go well for you.
This happened to me. Just be there for him when he needs you to listen. It is a tough road to recovery. He may also suffer with trauma from the accident which takes time to come to terms with. Hopefully he makes a full recovery. There will be a lot of physio to get him back on his feet. Each person is different and our bodies recover at different rates. I am 23 years post crash and to be honest it changed my life. I still suffer pain but it is part of my daily life. I had a fractured acetabulum (Hip socket) repaired with plates and screws. He will recover and may not have any lasting disability I am a minority to have pain post accident. Most people are fine once their bones have fully healed. You will not understand his suffering g so you need to be very patient if he has a lot of low times.
