Iam so sorry to hear about your Mum. My Dad got Jaundice on 22 Dec 09 and visited his Gp on 23 Dec and was sent for blood tests which showed liver damage. His GP informed him he would refer him to Consultant, he waited 47 days for appointment. He had lost his appetitie and was loosing weight, he was also very tired. The consultant sent him for ultrasound scan then admitted to hospital a week later for further tests, and a stent was inserted into the bile duct,by this time he was retaining fluid. On 26th March 10 I made appointment to see Consultant who informed me Dad had Bile Duct Cancer and only 2 weeks to live this was such a shock to the family. Dad stayed in hospital and slept for the next 11 days saying the only discomfort he had was when he ate or drank anything. He was only taking Paracetamol and Co-codamol for pain relief. Dad passed away on 6 April 10 which was peaceful.
Prior to this illness my Dad had always been fit and well only visiting his GP once prior to this illness in 60 yrs.
I hope your Mum is feeling better

Hello Ann,
my dad passed away 2 weeks ago from CC. If your mum is still with you please get a second opinion also try a private hospital. the NHS will not treat patients if they think they will only survive a few months.
My dad had ulcerative colitis and was warned he may get cancer in the future but the doctors took too long to diagnose so he became too weak for treatment. they kept saying go home and get fit. only a week before did they tell us he is dying.
