My mum whos been single since she was 42 and who is now 65 has just been told she has herpes.She has this rash on her chest and back which she says are very painful and itchy.This is her first outbreak.The doctor has prescribed antibiotics painkillers and an ointment.We are from India.But as of now where my mums working its very cold.Ive heard of these cold compresses to help but since its so cold here how can i advice her that and at her age.Except for the medicines the doctor has not adviced anything else.How long does the rash in a first outbreak take to heal?

if that is herpes like mine hsv igg 2, when i got rashes during my hospitalization, it takes 3days its itchy, while nurses giving me antibiotic, i also have this caladryl lotion, but really itchy painful,hits all your nerves you can really really feels, it is very different feeling,
