Well with just one more day to go the hospital have postponed my op because they haven't got the correct funding paperwork! I've been waiting since last October to get this hip sorted out. Very frustrating but at least I will get to meet the surgeon now and have a proper discussion. Hope it won't take too long to sort out.
Regards
Ann
Hi Ann, I bet your not impressed with there late in the day decision, are you in UK I thought the funding here had to be confirmed before you got your appointment, when I apply for MRI funding or anything else to do with my medical requirements I have to wait for it to be passed first.
That's also a really long wait, I hope they sort it fast for you.
Oh Annie that is awful. Are you inthe UK? If so you can ask the CCG to find you somewhere to have the op sooner rather than later usually privately. How have you not met your surgeon yet.
Annie
You poor thing. How frustrating to be cancelled at the last minute but it sounds like it won't be too long now

Yes I'm in the UK and this is a private hospital that sees NHS patients. Supposed to be a centre of excellence for hips and knees. My GP said that hips and knees are low priority in our region at the moment. This hospital supposedly guarantees treatment within 19 weeks but didn't mention funding at the outset. The whole funding process seems very complicated from what The GP says. The delay is something to do with bureaucracy. Very frustrating.
I had an email from the hospital in July saying funding had been granted. Today the person from hospital admin says the wrong form has been submitted whatever that means. Yes it has been a long wait. 😞
Hi Annie . This really isn't fair! Don't they realise how stressful this is, and the pain. It's all red tape etc.
What part of the uk are you? X
Contact the funding centre for your area, they are usually pretty good and especially if you tell them how this has impacted on your mental health as well as leaving you in pain with poor quality of life
I would complain to NHS England then. Also get your MP onto it too. Hope you do not wait much longer. Xxx
Annie
Me too. But I had mine done at Nuffield Orthopaedic in Oxford. I think it is getting more difficult in Berkshire, my wife went to our GP about her hip and her gp said the NHS wouldn't consider surgery until she had tried physio, painkillers, massage and I don't know what else, It was clearly going to take a very long time so she's having it done privately. The NHS is struggling at the moment.
