Hey I am so sorry that you are having difficulty i really want you to hang in there I feel the same way at times like I really don't want to do this anymore but I try to think differently some times it works some time it doesn't but I don't want to quit like you say you don't want to leave your house me either I went to see my gastric dr for a follow up in a ultra sound of my stomach to see if any of my organs were swollen but that came back ok he is scratching his head in dismay he can't figure what else to do so he prescribed caratine some type of liquid medicine that supposed to coat my throat and my stomach so the acid can't do much damage, but no one has ever did a test to see if I really had acid reflux/gerd so now he is saying if that doesn't work he is gonna check to see if or how much acid is coming up and check for h poly he should have done that test months ago it gonna be a year next month now since all this has been going on I,I have no clue of what to do I get the lump feeling in my throat and stuffy nose constantly every single day at time it gets so hard to breathe like I am about to suffocate then I panic and all of a sudden it goes back to normal with me shaking having jaw pain along with lightheadedness arm pain sometimes chest pains when all that comes on I just sit there like a zombie and let it ride out take its course but all its happening I am scared and just nervous in a daze it's just nerve racking and I am saying is this really acid reflux doing all this or something else, but I am hoping you best of luck and just try to keep your head up even when people think that you are crazy and making it all up,try something to keep your mind of it and please try to make an effort to leave your apartment don't let this get the best of you let me know of any changes or you just want to talk and vent ok

I feel exactly the same I have had what I thought was a throat infection for last 5 weeks I think the penicillin has made it worse if anything eventhough I felt like I was get better. I have a heart condition with muscular dystrophy. I have had stress with my Dad ill with cancer, but I don't think this is cause of it although it may have added it. I also cannot swallow and feel a bit nauseas . I really don't know what to do. I dread having a endoscopy . My consultant has referred me to a swallowing speech therapist to possibly to have a barium swallow to see if there is muscle weekness. I don't know if this is all related to my wisdom tooth that has been rubbing on my bottom gum and causing a bit of infection . The dentist told me this a couple of months before I developed these symptoms. Anyway from speaking to my own GP she agreed that the throat neck pain etc which I actually thought was glanduar fever is probably acid reflux as I have been having indegestion and a feeling of food coming back up or air burps in my chest. So I am going to try a course of Omeprazole for a bit and see if this solves the problem. Whatever it seems to be causing my throat to be swollen and sore and you can see white patches with red at back which is why I suspected glandular fever.  I am glad you are feeling better.

There are 2 things that come to mind for treating acid reflux. The first is apple cidar vinegar, however if you have an ulcer it could make your stomach pain worse, it worked wonders for me but unfortunately I had an ulcer and had to stop taking it.

The 2nd thing one could try is baking soda, take a tea spoon of baking soda and mix it in a very small amount of water, the taste is horrible but it is very strong, it a little bit with the baking soda but it cleans you out.

A third thing is to not eat anything anywhere close to bed time, I'm talking about at 6 pm not a drop of food till breakfast time, not any food not even a small tiny tootsie roll.

Hi I have not had acid reflux as bad as you but I think am getting it a bit too frequently and it frightens me a Lil cos I always think the worse, I do have a family with history of cancer and my brother died of throat cancer. I hope you don't mind me asking what was the cost of your private treatment. xx

I thought I was the only one out there. Have had numerous EKGs, endoscopy, and others that related to checking for reflux problems. Just recently left the emergency!! Everyone (Doctors) says "everything is normal!!!" I feel I can't breath at times, always burping, I'm beginning to eat healthy, cold turkey on alcohol!!! Idk what else to do. Every single symptoms you all are having I am. I'm an 29yr old very athletic, eats and drinks according to the reflux diet!!!! I'm still losing. Only time I find relief is by during ginger tea. Can't drink tea all day!!! Have to work and plus have family with younger kids who needs attention!!!!!!

Hey, I really understand you because the same symptoms were for me as well when I got gerd.I though I was going to die as well. The doctors couldn't find anything at all, so my family doctors told me that I had depression and wanted to prescribe me antidepressants. But finally I realized what happened to me thanks to the power of internet. BUT HOWEVER, no thanks to the doctors. They really do not know how to work properly. They really don't take their job seriously, so they don't care about other people at all.

hey, maybe could anybody share his or her knowledge on eating habits when you got gerd? can you tell me what you eat? Maybe I would add that to my food list because now my food is really annoying me.

Has anyone have any relief? I started with pain when I swallow. Went to the gi had ct scan with contrast and barrium clear. Lost a lot of weight went to get upper endoscopy had gastric metaplasia (benign condition ) I have esophagitis and after this upper gi everything when downhill. Stomach pains loss of appetite upper back pain chest pain. Now my symptoms are back pain chest pain and lack of appetite and mouth burning on and off. They put me on dexilant it help my throat but the side effects are horrible. Now I'm on zeros which is not bad but the healing is slow still burning mouth slight back pain bad chest pain from the esophagitis.

Hi Kera,

I too have made several trips to the ER. If they told you there that you have gastric reflux, I would be fairly confident with that diagnosis.  In my case they say "gastritis" since my main complaint is severe stomach pain, but I get stomach acid so much that I have to live on Prilosec.  Unfortunately that, together with an antacid isn't helping.  I keep feeling like acid is going up my sinuses when I sleep, it burns, makes me miserable, I can't eat...I need to do something else.  I'm going to start with putting my head up higher in bed.  I've had very similar problems, so I feel for you.  I hope your pregnancy went, well, and you've seen some improvement.  Thanks for sharing, so we don't feel alone.

Excellent Advice!  I'm going to try some of this!!

I know this is an old discussion but want to share my story. I have a past history of anxiety but 2 years ago after a few years of no anxiety I started feeling really dizzy. I kept telling the GP that my ear felt wrong but she wouldn't look and insisted it was anxiety. She sent me for a blood test that showed I'm folate anaemic so I take tablets every day. After going back because the dizziness was so bad and getting nowhere I eventually went to an out of hours GP who did listen and said I'd perforated my ear drum! 18 months on I get the occasional dizzy spell.

But in the last 6 months I've started getting some really scary symptoms. I feel constantly sick, it feels like I've had a cold for 6 months that won't go. I'm always clearing my throat of gunk and have a hard time breathing through my nose. I started getting chest pains, tingling arms, a pain in the centre of my back. I have constant acid indigestion that won't go. I have to force myself to eat. My whole body aches and I have no energy at all. This has put me to bed for days on end and petrifies me! I've got a GP app this morning. I'm actually sick and tired of feeling sick and tired and I want to feel normal. It's causing havoc with the anxiety. I'm in a way glad that there's others that know how I'm feeling. I am going to push the GP to do something.

{{{{{HUGS}}}}} I just wanted to say that I am so sorry you are going through this.  I started having this exact thing happen to me about 4 years ago.  It was miserable.  I was really scared.  I too had out of control anxiety too, which makes things 10 times worse.  I often have flare ups to this day, but at least I know what to do now to control them.   I went to alot of different doctors. The only doctor that found something was the immunologist who says I am not optimally producing antibodies.  He said that I have CVID, which helps explain the digestive issues and all the sinus infections I was getting.  He recommended IVIG infusions, and I was approved by insurance to get them, but I decided not to do them.  I changed my diet drastically and can control my symptoms, but often have flare ups when I don't follow my diet.  My diet is very basic....I stay away from all grains (wheat, corn, rice..etc), legumes, sugar, dairy, high fat foods, processed foods, and acidic foods, and eat small portions. I do allow myself some olive oil in salad dressings.   If I do this for at least 3 to 4 days, I will feel better.  If I do this for 6 weeks, I am good go to,  and am able to eat some of the restricted foods as long as I eat them in small quantities.  The benefit is that I am able to stay slim.   Good luck to you, and hope you get some answers.

I'm so glad I found this thread, feel like I'm going crazy! Yes I've been diagnosed with anxiety but I'm pretty sure all this stems from reflux! I have every symptom u have described apart from the vomiting, I myself have not long had a baby and the pregnancy was great etc, now bub is 10 months old and for the past 4 months I've felt like this, sick of being drugged up by the docs for anxiety! I went back this Friday and she put me on meds for reflux I'm praying they work, it's the breathlessness that gets me it does make me panic! I only panic because of the way I'm Feeling, hopefully you still check this thread would be nice to hear how you are doing now

How are you feeling now kerry24008? Hopefully the docs helped you? I myself feel like this I'm sick of them saying it's anxiety, I went back to the GPS on Friday who said I have reflux now on meds for this aswell hoping they work, I want to feel normal again x

ive had this, thought it was throat cancer or something, face gets hot, eyes tingle, ears hurt, feel tired, whole body can also ache, it can also cause chest infections, or chest mucus.  Took doctors 6 month to diagnose me until i searched internet and tol them send me to an ENT, i took rantidine and lanoparole for 3 months60 mg each then dropped to just 15mg of lanzo each morning.

I know it should be taken every day but i realize when stressed it comes back even more, I know when it comes back when my throat hurts so i take 30 mg lanzo 5 days then drop to 15mg for a month then take as and when needed, I even realized i got throat infections and coughs because of this when i would take 30 mg of lanzo daily they would go in 3-4 days or symtoms would dramatically reduce.

Doctors these days in UK do not want to refer you it seems, as they have incentives not to crowd the NHS.

If its really bad i think 30-60 mg of lanzo in am and 30-60 mg ranitidine at night should be a start point for a month, be wary that it may effect your digestion at the start, breathning excercies will calm you aswell and help.

I actually do same as original post also i raise the bed when my head is 6 inches this defo helps  Reflux is hell if its bad my throat used to be in pain all the time ear ache ringing headache hot fklushes stinging eyes tired..hope this helps someone.

take care peeps
