My son has a bit of stone stuck in his foot but it has healed over

Hello. I'm hoping that someone has some words of wisdom for my 6 year old's right foot. The other day he was playing with friends in the Thames river and jumped from a tyre swing. He went into the water and must have hit his foot on a stone. At the time I thought it might be just bruised but there's definitely something in there and I don't know how to get it out apart from the advice of other forums where people say to go cutting the area open. This isn't a happy optioin for a 6 year old but if it's the only one I'll have to go for it...or get a professional to.

Hi neia, when people tell you to cut it out,  I would hope they mean that you should go to your doctor and not to do it yourself.

If you go and see your GP, s/he will probably be able to remove the stone at the surgery, as a 'minor op', which I would think is less traumatic for a 6 year old, than a visit to A&E.

You will need to check that his injections are up to date too, for example tetanus.

Good luck and don't worry and don't try to cut it out yourself.

Thanks, Mrs.Mop. Some forums did talk about just getting in there and having a go but that would be rather awful!

Hi neia, go to a doctor sooner, rather than later, especially since your little boy was playing in the Thames, he could have trodden on anything.

Good luck, let me know how you get on.
