My story!!

Hello,

This is going to be somewhat of a long read but oh well. Im a 23 year old male currently in my second year at university. My upbringing was really rough, my mother has been depressed all her life and she really didnt have the time to give me the time & affection that i needed, but i understand that as she had her own problems aswel. Iv had two bad break ups in the past i guess when you lack love you go searching for it in the wrong places then end uo getting burnt. Growing up in a broken home has made me into someone whos in a good mood one second but it takes one little thing to set me off into a depressive mood. Iv spent nights crying myself to sleep, as the pain of my child hood still haunts me till this day, i know the old saying ' the past is the past' but its so hard when your trying to constantly out run it. With no support and still the same broken home im trying to overcome the odds and carve out a successful career for myself. I also suffer from chronic gastritis which has been ongoing for 5 years. I guess i just needed somewere to vent! Keep fighting the good fight no matter how hard the struggle is!!

Feel free to vent being able to talk to people without being judged is what makes this

site work. I have 2 boys that are 25 & 20

and I'm sure they've had it tough to but being able to talk to people can help.

Take care and talk whenever you feel the need Xxx

Hi

It sounds like you have situational depression..Where you are doing great one minute and then things can quickly spiral down dependent on the situation..

Its not a case of the past is the past as certain things in our childhood have a knock on affect on the rest on of lives.

Have you ever considered counselling to help you talk through the most difficult areas of your childhood, help you to learn  how to deal with those situations that are effecting your mood.

From my own expereince we have a habit of internalizing things when stuff is not going well such as relationships..friendships etc etc..We take the blame when its not are fault..I have found counselling helps you to understand your own emotions, learn what belongs to us and what does not..Recognise when a situation is not healthy etc etc..

You are also under a lot of stress with uni..Well done for having got this far and having a goal considering your upbringing was difficult..

Depression sucks thats for sure.

Condiser medication or if your already on meds get a review also consider therapy it may help.

This forum is excellent for support

Stay Strong

sorry to hear you have had a tough start.  Maybe you should get some counselling to resolve your past.
