After all the scans going including X-ray,CT,ultrasound,dsma scan my little girl who's only three has staghorm kidney stones and been told she have to have keyhole surgery to remove it I'm one worried mam. Has anyone experienced this before?
I had keyhole surgery to remove multiple partial staghorn kidney stones at beginning of December last year.
i am 67 years old so obviously this will be different for your 3 year old daughter.
Try to establish what has caused these stones to prevent it happening again.
Make sure your daughter is drinking plenty.
I had a catheter in for 3 days and a stent in for a week. Was in hospital for a week.
Not sure where you live but make sure you get a really good consultant to do this operation even if it is not at your nearest hospital.
I live in Wales and had to get funding from my local health board to be treated in England. I had the operation at Southmead Hospital in Bristol about 70 miles away.

Yes I make sure she's drinks plenty I'm just wondering can it grow any bigger and cause a big problem before keyhole surgery and did they remove it all in one go we will be going to the rvi in Newcastle thanks xx
Nope.., get a pediatric urologist from a good hospital2nd opinion and

The stones can get bigger or move before keyhole surgery.
They did manage to get to all mine in one go.

I have been told we have to wait 6/9 weeks enless there is a cancelation is this life threating
She's got no symptoms at all and is on antibiotics for water infection
I am in USA , so no idea where Yu r, no person could last that long if they were in pain.. but even if there is not right now , the stone could move , and then the pain could be intolerable for any person.. why wait ??
This is my argument just because there isn't no pain now it could come so why make a three year old wait 6/9 weeks just becaus she's having No problems with it
Never heard of such a young child having this condition, I would definitely get another opinion. I had the keyhole surgery. My doctor was from Cleveland Clinic, he was the best. I went homebthevsamevday and had no pain. I did have a stent, that part is miserable, tk god it was only for one week. Hope I get another opinion.
I know that's what people keep telling me she's so young and she's already had different hospitals and now transferred to Newcastle to get the keyhole surgery done
Hi Rachel: I am also surprised they are making you wait. My daughter is now 44 & had her 1st stone at age 7. She eventually passed it and many others over the years. Her urologist at that time said he had never seen an American child with stones.....only children of South American descent. Turned out my daughter has Renal Tubular Acidosis, inherited from her father, and treated with medication. I feel badly for your daughter. I agree with other. Find a good pediatric urologist, push water for the rest of her life, and have her blood & urine tested.

So young to have a kidney stone bless . Some stones don't cause pain or very much. I am 64yrs old and am sitting in hospital this very moment I had keyhole surgery yesterday at 8.30 was out at 12 was sick a few times with the drugs etc was wired up to machines had drips . The sickness stopped around 9pm I just had sips of water couldn't face food . Just had achy stomach and bit sore in lower back.i had catheter which was taking out this morning and have a pipe drain in my back they should take that out this afternoon. I was told I should be going home tomorrow as I'm now up and about no machines or drips. Just soreness and achey back I'm in Birmingham queen Elizabeth hospital Midlands they are fantastic here. I hope you get sorted soon . Good luck . Hope they can find why she has it . Mine was 20mm they took it all out . So stone free they going to test it I think mine is uric acid stone keeps us updated please much love x

We prayed for your daughter in church on Sunday and again in chapel yesterday.
