Well I'm now 7 1/2 weeks post op and continue to be frustrated with my progress. Ok I've had some good things this week, I can drive again and seem to be improving with some of the exercises.
What I really want though is to progress to not using my stick but it's just not happening. I have a problem with pain in the groin (not all the time, usually after my exercises or a long walk) and tightness around my knee which is more prominent around the inner knee area. This tightness stops me from bending my leg adequately to do my exercises correctly. Does anyone know if the 'full' pulling pain I get in my groin is connected to my knee problem? Any pain I had previously in my outer thigh has pretty much gone.
I'm due at my physio this afternoon so I'm going to quiz her again about it, but she didn't give me much confidence last week that she understood what I was saying.
Any advice greatly appreciated 😊

These echo some of my recurring problems Jacquie - so I am very interested in your PT's thoughts. Wishing you well on this.

Your progress or lack of progress does seem to mirror mine and I am 3 weeks ahead of you. But I will say this. Improvement, for me, happened so gradually. At 7 weeks i left the east coast to spend time with my parents in California and decided to ditch the stick cold turkey even when I had groin pain after exercise and it was the best thing I did. The therapist taught me how to improve my gait and once I no longer had a stick, I walked even shorter distances until I could perfect my walking and very slowly increased it. Still getting a sore groin just like you but from the 7 to 10 week mark, it has greatly improved and my therapist said as my glute and hip muscles improve and get stronger my groin pain will lesson as well as my knee issues. I was diagnosed with stiffness in my knee and thigh with IT band issues which I'm still finding difficult to improve, but all of this I am told will resolve with time and I am sure will for you too. Be patient with your progress. It will keep getting better.
And incidentally let us know what your physio says
