Mystery Nauseua and Vomiting, Gallstones?

I’ve had nausea and vomiting for about 6 months now with only occasional gall bladder pain. After getting a brain mri, an abdominal ultrasound, an endoscop, and finally a ct scan they found gallstones. I was referred to a surgeon who was gung ho to remove my gallbladder but he made the comment that it might not resolve my nausea and vomiting problem. How can this be? It seems nausea and vomiting are pretty common gallstone symptoms, is this true?

hi Mike,

Yes they are pretty common symptoms especially during a gallbladder attack. Basically I think the surgeon is just covering himself in case the symptoms you are experiencing are linked to something else. I know that people suffering gastritis prior to surgery, more often than not, continue to have it post surgery. There are never any 100% guarantees with any surgery.

Hopefully, in your case, the symptoms do subside. The important thing is to have the gallbladder removed before any nasty complications set in. If the symptoms you are experiencing persist after surgery, then investigations will be needed to seek out the cause, but fingers crossed it won’t cone to that. Best of luck.
