Nail damage due to Lichen Planus

I have been diagnosed with Lichen planus of finger & toe nails by a dermatologist.  I cannot take Lamisil preparations and wonder what else is available all my nails are splitting and look awlful. Is there any cosmetic techniques available eg false nails that can be applied?

Sorry i was fortunate in that i only lost 1 toe nail.It was unplesant to look at.Black and lumpy. It eventually grew back normally after about 2 mths. There's no medication, just time.Good luck.

Sorry, but I don,t think false nails are a good idea somehow.  You won,t know whats going on underneath.  Best be guided by your Dr. I,m more and more sure that stress plays a big part in this disease.

I was lucky with my nails as it only affected one thumbnail, with a bit of ridging in  some others.  Sorry to say that though the LP went away from all the other places after a couple of years, this nail still splits and crumbles away after 12 years.

I keep the best side cut short to help stop it "catching".

If I had it on more nails I would use false nails as it can be unsightly. It will do what it wants if you can see it or not.
