Just had a cheeky 10 minutes lying on my non operated side with pillow between my legs. Haven't been able to do it before. I'm 3 weeks PO tomoz.
Before anyone tells me off my surgeon said if my body lets me I can with a cushion, he's quite happy and not bothered or worried!! Was nice just for few mins. I'll try op side next time, I'm back on my back now.
Good on you Gaby, just do it carefully and for a short time only. It nearly killed me sleeping on my back for 6 weeks (I was very diligent)! Yes your body will tell you in no uncertain terms if you have overdone anything.
Keep up the good work, wishing you speedy recovery,
I never had to struggle with this as I could sleep on my side right away - I was actually shown in hospital how to use the pillow position my leg and turn ... soem hospitals prefer that you lie on your operated side first ... soooooooooooooo confusing - operated side was uncomfortable for a while because of the scar -
No, really, good on you, another small step. Unfortunately the advice I had was not to do it, so still on my back .
I have an appointment with my surgeon and the physio at the end of the week, so I will ask if I can too, anything to break away from the monotony of being on my back all the time. What with sitting in a relaxing chair, a recliner, and sleeping on myback, it feels like I spend 24x7 on my back.
Look after yourself now, don't go overdoing it again.
I'm just over 3 weeks and would kill for a good nights sleep, but I'm terrified I'll undo all the good work, so I am determined to stick it out for another 3 weeks.😟
I only went onto my side for 10 minutes don't think I'd have dared go to sleep on it in case my leg crossed the 90degree line lol. I'm amazed and lucky I've been sleeping like the dead on my back( never ever could sleep on it) x
