Nausea in menopause

Hi Ladies, how have you guys handled the nausea and the mood swings. The nausea is EVERY Day.

How do you know if you are now in menopause as opposed to perimenopause

Ginger and fennel are great for rhe tummy. Also, you are in menapause when you have not have your period for 12 months.

Hi Lenie,

See ur Dr who will send you for blood tests, supplement your diet with herbal medicines take advise from a good herbal shop/ primrose oil is very good research online....

Good Luck X

That's a very good question. I think most doctors would tell you it is when you haven't had a period for over a year. But we are all different. I have a friend in her 70's who still gets the occasional hot flush and still get some kind of 'cycle' (twinges, non meno grumpiness, feeling very cold and SPOTS!!!! at 57

Do some research online and make your own mind up. If you go to your doctor about the nausea he will probably give you meds with side effects all of there own!

Ginger and sparkling water for the nausea. Milk seems to make it worse so I avoid milk now. But we're all different. x

Hiya

I'm in year nine of peri

Currently no period for 8 months so far

Ive suffered really bad nausea and stomach problems in Peri

But lately the nausea is all the time and it's really stressing me out!!!

I've had every symptom there is to have anxiety depression hot sweats and flushes inner tremors health anxiety acid reflux gum infections painful joints fatigue

And the list goes on and on

BUT the nausea is getting ridiculous to the point some days I cannot function

I'm miserable I'm using acupressure bands and stomach medicine that I probably cannot name but lately nothing is working

I do have anti sickness meds from doctor but try not to take them

Just want you to know you are not alone and I've had so many tests everything comes back normal

I've out stayed my welcome at the doctors

Oh yes and the horrible metallic taste nothing tastes right

Stay strong x

Menopause is said to be 12 consecutive months without a period. With the loss of estrogen I was told it is common to ecperience joint pain. You could be experiencing referred pain from that.

I had a hystserectomy so I guess I will have to get labs, thanks

Thanks, I know, right, the nausea is horrible

That is EXACTLY what I have OMG> The same thing, Thats so weird, it must be hormonal.

Hi Michelle, you are right to stay clear of the 'stomach medicine'. It causes more problems than it fixes. I have found ginger to be really good for nausea (and upset stomach). Ginger tea, candied ginger, sushi ginger (pickled) and even ginger biscuits, all help.

Hi lenie95046.  I was wondering if you've had any relief from your daily nausea?  I too have had nausea every morning for 8 months now.  I've had multiple tests/scans, but all normal except VERY low estrogen & high FSH.  Not diagnosed as menopause yet, but it's my only abnormal test so far.  I'm at the end of my rope, so will try anything (HRT) if that takes the nausea away.  I've lost 20 pounds so far because I lose my appetite too.  I really hope you're feeling better!

OH I had that metallic taste in the mouth..I got the horrible dry mouth and throat no taste in the mouth can make me feel sick..but 2 years ago I use to feel sick and one morning got out of bed puke up nothing was on the stomach..it's got better gone back eating after loosing weight thank God,I hope it ends I read it does stop, and people say in person it will passed.

I have had what i describe as morning sickness everyday for the last 2months.

I am 55 and still get fairly regular periods.

I have hardly no appetite and that might be the only good thing about it that i might loose weight!

I read somewhere that not eating makes it worse. It said to eat smaller meals eg crackers. To be honest i feel bloody terrible.

I have some crystallized ginger and will try that.

Its making everything i do so much harder.

Over being a woman right now.

Oh i hear you Maria....

The loss of appetite is ruining the fun of going out for dinner.

But funnily enough the thought of a delicious piece of battered fish and a potato scallop really appeals to me! Go figure that!!

I've just started experiencing nausea and it's awful. The only way I can describe it is morning sickness 24/7. I have periods every 3 months (50) and this last one has been long 10 days and counting ... with the nausea thrown in for good measure. Anxiety is through the roof having convinced myself it is something much more sinister.... got to be linked to the fact I am having this weird period right ? I also suffered badly from morning sickness when pregnant so I am assuming it's connected ... not liking this little symptom at all !!!!

Hi Maria;

You too with the loss of appetite? Thank God for these forums with REAL women. So sick of doctors saying nausea and no appetite is NOT a sign of menopause.

I often wonder if they get kick backs for running all these damn tests! Not ONE doctors has acknowledged nausea as a symptom - NOT ONE!

Had labs done 3 months ago and again last week. Best labs I have ever had.FSH was 108.4 and LH was 51.9. Not sure what either of those mean as she never explained so if anybody knows, please chime in. No period for 11 1/2 months.

The nausea comes in waves it seems. Feel great for a day and it comes right back. Hard to eat when you have no appetite. If this is going to last the rest of my life, take me out now. This is BS and sick of feeling sick all the time.

Anybody else have bouts with nausea, lack of appetite which is causing weight loss? Other than that I feel great outside of an occasional hot flash!

Renee;

How are you doing with your nausea. I have been period free for 11 months. Looking back my nausea started last December, came back in April, then in August, September, October so it’s been really persistant lately.

All labs perfect. Had an abdominal ultrasound and well as vaginal 2 years ago and nothing found either.

I have an occasional ACHE here or there but this nausea is killing me one day at a time.

Hi Maria ,

Same , I am feeling miserably with this noisea waves , very pale , dark blue rings under eyes .
Gynecologist lady said noisea is not a menopause or perimenopause symptom.
GP lady said all blood works , colonoscopy ,gastroscopy came back normal .
Just blood test shows menopause.
Also scan shows a 5cm fibroid , under observation for 6 months and no hormone medication allowed .
Anti noisea medication just when is noisea is very intense .
Got sea bands from chemist today and some ginger capsules and give them a try see how they works .
These noisea waves just killing me , I am a night shift worker , not getting enough sleep during the day .
I was wondering if these horrible noisea will be settle down sometimes (months , years ?)can someone advise me PLEASE , many thanks
