My main symptom is nausea accompanied by a little bit of burning sensation in chest/stomach. The only medication I’m taking is cholesterol medicine and I never had these feelings before and it’s making my aniexty bad thinking it’s my gallbladder but a lot of people said I would be in severe pain. I went to the doc two weeks ago and they put me on omeprazole 20 mg to take every morning and doesn’t seem to be helping. My nurse thinks it’s acid reflux. Am I overthinking everything and need to calm down?
Hi Tiffany, it could be acid reflux, I get awful symptoms with mine and the anxiety on top makes it worse. Take care with your diet eat plain food and drinks for a while, also, if you can prop up the bed so you are not lying flat it could help. Some antacids before bed also. Hope this helps a little, stay calm, easy for me to say but I do know how it feels, I’m with you
I had the same thing and was diagnosed with GERD and still couldn't figure out why I was feeling so bad. Last week, I had horrible abdomen pain and went to the hospital for answers - turns out I have gallstones! Pain isn't always a sign but it will start to show more often when it shows signs that the gallbladder needs to come out. Have you tried asking for an ultrasound or an HIDA scan? An ultrasound can show gallstones and an HIDA scan can show gallbladder function. Hope we both get proper answers soon and start to feel better
I’m scared of finding out if I have gallstones, cuz I don’t like the feeling of being put under. What are they doing for your gallstones?
The doctor at the hospital mentioned surgery but he said he was unsure considering my age and it's up to my primary doctor. I have yet to see her to discuss but most likely, I'll go with surgery because these few months have been enough for me to cry a bunch and do way too much internet searches. There's other alternatives, like taking medication to get rid of the gallstones but apparently it takes a year to work (or it doesn't work at all) so it's best just to get it completely removed. I'll update you once I figure out what I'm going to do!
I been worried sick. But my spouse doesn’t think it’s my gallbladder she’s been thinking it’s my aniexty causing my heartburn and nausea by keep worrying and overthinking looking up everything
It could be your gallbladder but I'm going to go out on a limb and say no. I had my removed in the early 2000s after years of gallbladder attacks, yes severe pain and vomiting bile and more severe pain, usually in the upper right rib area that wraps around into your back. BUT...it could be gallstones/gallbladder disease in the early stages, it can be ruled out with a hida scan (sp?) but the doctor isn't going to order one of those unless you have the classic symptoms of a gallbladder attack. My guess would be acid reflux which anxiety can cause and make worse. Keep taking the omeprazole until you talk to your doctor. Avoid spicy foods, greasy/fried foods, NO caffeine, try elevating the head of your bed or propping yourself up with extra pillows so the acid stays down in your stomach where it belongs, do not lay down and eat or drink, do not lay down soon after eating either, Try keeping a journal and see if you can find other trigger food or drinks. I can't do anything tomato or drink orange juice anymore at all. Good Luck!!!
I went to the doctor and she said she doesn’t think it’s my gallbladder cuz she pressed on it and no pain. I read online that only chronic gallbladder disease cause digestive issues.
Great news!!!
Hi Tiffany! I said I would update you when I figured out what's gonna happen and here I am. I have consultation with a surgeon on Friday. I'm a bit nervous if I'm honest and crying a little because I'm relieved and scared. How are you doing?
It’s going to be ok I promise. Went to the doctor today and they think it has to do with my stomach more than my gallbladder cuz I’m having burning from it and no pain near gallbladder area
I am going to get an ultrasound done just in case. I’m waiting for them to call me to set up an appt. Cuz my burn has went away kind of and I’m still having persistent nausea. So I didn’t know if that could still be gb related. I’m so nervous and I have a fear of being put under.
Were you throwing up when you were feeling bad?
I've gotten extremely nauseous but I haven't thrown up. The only time I was close to it when I had the gallbladder attack, literally the worst pain ever - my mother said herself she'd rather go through labor again. Are you okay?
Did you have any burning? I have tenderness when I press on my sternum and my upper right rib part and my spouse thinks it’s an ulcer.
Sometimes my stomach has this burning feeling. My right rib area/right between my ribs feels a little tender as well when I push. Not too sure if it's from my gallstones.
I’m trying to make an appt for an ultrasound if they will ever call me lol. But yeah it’s tender on my sternum and right below it and to the right a little bit and a little to the left.
I hope they let you do the ultrasound! My first came back just fine but the second one around showed gallstones and I believe they couldn't spot it at first because they were small or I was really gassy (so I was told). Either that, or it was just an accidental mistake - can't really blame them. Hope everything goes well for you! I want us both to get better already.. but I've noticed overworrying makes some days worse than others, so try not to worry too much!
How are you feeling Tiffany? Was thinking about you and hoping you were feeling a little better now that you've been to the doctor!!!
A little bit. Just trying to figure out what’s giving me the nausea lol. It’s like never ending and the burning has kind of went away but my nausea hasn’t. My aniexty is making me think it’s soemthing serious like my gallbladder or something else lol I really hope it goes away soon. I have some people tell me they don’t think it’s my gallbladder cuz it’s weird how that would come up after a what it sounds like a viral infection.
