Nearly 4 months post op - do I do the 1500m or not

so it is our school sports day on Friday and it is a big event at the stadium that is home to the  Saracens rugby team. Obviously for the majority of the day the students participate in lots of different events but the whole day kicks off with the 1500 which is now held in memory of a student who was killed a few years ago - the tradition is that absolutely everyone - staff and students -  takes part  running/ walking/ crawling /hopping etc - do I do my usual stroll or shall i sit it out this year?????

If you have already walked that far, with whatever aids you need, or not. Go for it. If not could you do part of it?

hi valerie

i think if you are alrady walking quite a bit it will be ok...i was walking around 2.5 miles per day after 4 months...hope this helps...

good luck roy

Take both crutches, use them like pacepoles and have some strong arms around you, don't worry how long it takes, doing it, for the reason you are, means everything. Take your time, good luck and well done. Dot :-) xx

My two cents, if you can have a stepcounting app on your phone, I think you'll be amazed how much you walk over the day.

Have some aids handy if need be, but if you half can, I'd say go for it 😊

Yes,,,I think that the, " Rome Was Not Built In A Day."  Theme is a very fitting idea, as long as you finish with the rest of the slow ones that is, should be fun, lets have a Pic of you at the finish line with your crurches in the air?? I am a photographer and am dieing to post a photo here, what would anyone like to see??

Ideas please I have loads of shots to share....  Kind regards to all Ian.

Hi Valerie,

well, Exeter Chiefs are my rugby team, and getting better every year, now 5th!!!

but, i'd say depending on how you feel, and talk to a physio at your gym or somnewhere, but yes go for it if you feel fine. and huge respect if you don't!

At 3.5 months I walked 9 miles on Saturday, and jogged a full circuit on the gym treadmill today. Also did Abs and Ads machine for first time for a year! So exciting getting it all together, but everyone goes at a different pace following our amazing operation.
