Hello ladies,
I have not posted for a while, decided I needed to focus on my recovery and stop worrying about everything. I am 40 years old and nearly 8 weeks post op now, at 3 weeks I unfortunately developed an upper respiratory virus which has had me coughing uncontrollably at times for the past 5 weeks. I think I might be finally getting over it but am worried about what damage I may have done. I have felt a bulge after coughing but after having a bit of a feel around I think this might be a slight cystocele rather than the rectocele. (I was originally scheduled for posterior and anterior repair but the surgeon decided it didn't really warrant it). Has anyone had this kind of misfortune and been okay? Go through periods of feeling really depressed that I've put myself through this all for nothing. On the positive side the perineal repair looks good!
Sorry to hear you've had such a nasty cough just at the wrong time. Have you had your post op check up? If not I would request one to put your mind at rest as it's still early days. Good to hear the perineal repair has worked, you don't hear much about that & I know I need one so thanks for mentioning it.
You might find that it's still swelling from the surgery but it's better to get it checked out. Hope you are still resting as much as possible & not lifting etc. Good luck.
Thanks for your reply, I have a post op check up in just over a week and also a physio appointment, so I guess I will know more then. I promise I will post the outcome 😊.
Have been trying to rest but also trying to build strength as feel this will help me get over the cough, it's hard getting the balance right sometimes isn't it?
Lying down feels better on the organs but also makes me cough!😔
