Diagnosed with Chondromalcia but told there is nothing surgically that can be done.Cortisone injection helped for 6 weeks but i am in pain all day every day.Told that in years to come it would mean a knee replacement but for now i want to prolong the pain as long as i can.Advice needed please.
Don't know what that is but...
When I lost all my cartilage in both knees from four scopes (two each side), SynVisc kept me going for many years. Ask your doc if that will help this condition. Three shots over 15 days can last up to a year; one shot can last up to six months. Cortisone is not a multi-year solution.
1st I would seek the advice of a sports medicine orthopedic Dr. One of the common terms is "runners knee" and its generallyvdianosed as an inflammation of the underside of the knee cap or patella. More often than not it takes a real specialists specialist to give an accurate diagnosis/prognosis as every case can be a little different. If you have a local professional/college athletic program, find out what medical team they use. I happen to go to a University medical center (teaching hospital) that the center for 3 professional and 2 major college programs. My surgeon is a sports medicine surgeon and my physical therapist has a doctorate in sports medicine physical therapy. Ask lots of questions
