Need advice , please!

I saw a new GYN this week.  She took many cultures.  I am waiting for results.  She recommended Osphena.  I am waiting for delivery.  I also saw a urologist and she thinks my burning issue is gynecological.  However, she is doing a cystoscopy at the end of August to rule out a bladder issue.  She gave me samples of Toviaz for incontinence.  The vulva burning has gotten worse.  I can hardly walk with this terrible burning.  I am using a baking soda wash which helps for a short time.  Can anyone suggest what I can use in the vulva to alleviate this burning?  I started taking Pyridum but so far it is not working.  Thank you.

I'm in Scotland, but have had this condition for 5 years, after countless different medications, the one that lets me life a normal life is Dermovate Ointment, ( clobetasol propionate). The vulva area goes very red when ointment is applied, but within 5 minutes all is calm.  After every 'wee' make sure all residue is removed. I use a wet flannel to dab  clear, because toilet paper tends to stick. Hope this helps, X

PS. A pea size amount of ointment does all area...

Well if you read all the discussions about this you will see there are so many of us with the same problem. I think most of us find no matter what we try we need to eventually go down the estriol road or something similar. We are all different but one thing is the same the constant burning and stinging is very annoying and constant bathroom trips are very sore and sleep disturbing if you are up during the night.

Good luck with what your doctor has advised and let us know how you get on.

Hi Maryann,

I am in the same boat. I have been unable to work today the burning is so bad. My journey sounds similar to yours. I had the scope already. It was clear.  Pyridium did not help and I think that is for short term use. Starting on topical estrogen now. Trying desperately to find something that works. Just know you are not alone.

If you are using baking soda baths (which I also found helped a little) make to moisturize after. I am currently using organic coconut oil.

I am in Scotland too and just wrote a long message and an advertisement for Apple blanked the whole lot out and I couldn't get the advertisement away and when I tried to get my message back it had disappeared. Really annoying will try to write later

Hi  I've tried the estriol cream and Vagifem, both irritated the surrounding skin and for me, make matters worse. It's a case of trial and error to see what works for you.

Thank you Julie.

Thank you Olive.  I will give an update.

Hi Lorna,

I have tried the steroid ointment.  Unfortunately, it did not help.  I am using a baking soda wash and then applying Aquaphor.  Not helping that much.  Thanks for your reply.

It must be Dermovate, our steriod ointment do not work.....

Where in Scotland are you

I am Stonehaven Aberdeenshire

Thanks, Lorna.  I will check it out.

I had the burning and found that betnovate helped eventually. I really wouldn’t continue with the baking soda. Also emu oil or coconut oil.

Thank you Polly.

I also use coconut oil - I apply it internally and externally every time I go to the toilet. I also apply vit e oil internally once a day and before I go to bed I insert a key e suppository. I also take (orally) 3g of sea buckthorn oil (shown Tom improve the condition on the vagainal wall cells and the thickness of the vaginal wall). Other things: no underwear and lose fitting clothes; scent and chemical free laundry powder and conditioner; bleach and chemical free toilet paper. In fact I managed on that regimen (and having sex too) for 4 years. But, like Olive said, eventually the dryness (and return of painful sex) won and I now use estriol cream (but still do all the other natural stuff).

Thanks Suki girl.  I will try these remedies.

As a temporary relief, you could try an ice pack. As crazy as this may sound, It works for me. I was told about this after my first Mona Lisa Touch treatment. I was experiencing burning and it really hurt to urinate and the doctor prescribed an ice pack, held between your legs, and it worked.

I hope this works for you. Please keep us posted. We all care.

Thanks Linda.  I will.
