I been married for 11 years and recently my wife had a herpes outbreak. After the outbreak she went to get tested and it came back positive for genital herpes. Two weeks later I went to get tested and tested negative. She gave me her word she haven't cheated and I really won't to believe her. Is it possible for her to have had this STD before marriage?
It is possible that she has had the virus for many years and it has been dormant in her system.
Hey - I don’t know you or your wife, but it is very likely that your wife has had the virus this entire time and didn’t know. For example, I’ve had this virus for 7years and never once had a flare up until recently. This is a virus that can lay dormant for some time. Having this virus sucks. Please be there for her as I’m sure it’s hard enough on her.
Yes very possible..I've read stories that couples had it 20/30 years and never had a outbreak. I am married, pretty sure I have GH, I have never cheated and neither has my husband and I just had what I think is my 1st outbreak, in June. Google GH laying dormant. You will see it is very possible.

I am a true living example of this . I’ve been married 33 years one partner my whole life . Last year I got an outbreak for the first time . I couldn’t understand it because I only have had 1 partner my husband . Apparently at some time or another my husband had been infected and then he passed it on to me . But it lay dormant for more than 33 years . So please believe her . It could of happened in her dating years and just now her immune system isn’t as strong. It’s hard enough to deal with this disease on a daily basis. Just protect yourself and have her go on anti virals . Wish you both the best .
Yes she might got it before marriage. But mostly she suffered an initial outbreak also before marriage. Was it type 1 or 2 ?
