Okay, so I need some advice. I have lots of dental issues due to genetics and the fact that I grind my teeth. Well, on the left hand side of my mouth all the molars on top and bottom have a root canal and are crowned. They are fine. On the right hand side of my mouth I am missing the back two molars, top and bottom. Recently, I had tooth number 29 filled, and it set tooth number 30 off. Tooth number 30 had a root canal in 2010, and a retreat in 2012 or 2013. Now , they want to retreat it again, and put somthing called heshine paste in it. I'm to the point I want it gone, and just deal with. Its been aching and has given me headaches on many occassions. Has anyone ever experienced this before? Any recomendations? Do I retreat? Get it pulled? Get an implant or just deal without ? I'm so tried of it hurting.
What's heshine paste? I googled it and can't find any reference to it.
I had a similar problem with a lower molar. After a failed root canal following which a crown was applied anyway it never stopped hurting, I was left with a big flap of loose gum that I constantly had to irrigate with bicarb and I couldn't eat on that side for the whole 8 years it was there. I got "lucky" in that I finally developed a terrible sublingual abscess that nearly choked me, so the tooth had to be removed anyway.
I sympathise completely but can't offer any solutions. I'm currently grappling with a similar problem - dentists proposing to do a root canal on a loose front tooth that I know won't work anyway. (Root canals don't work on any of my teeth due to calcifications in the pulp cavities from an auto-immune disease.) Trouble is, the darned thing hurts every time I bite on anything - though it's not the pain of an abscess - but dentists refuse to pull it. They say I've got to go through the failed root canal plus inevitable abscess before they'll consider that. Quite honestly it's getting to the point where I'm even thinking of doing a DIY extraction like people do in the UK!
Heshine's paste is some kind of paste they want to put in my tooth to make it quit hurting after a third root canal. Its apparently new, and I'm sorry I'm not sure I'm spelling it right. I'm to the point where I'm going to have it extracted and just deal with having no molars on that side. I forgot to mention the retreat is going to cost $250, which I won't have for a few months.
With you all the way. I only hope you have better luck than me and can find a dentist who'll actually agree to take it out without extracting maximum $$$ first! I'd probably have to pay about the same as you for a root canal and crown, all of which would be wasted because it wouldn't stop the tooth from wobbling about anyway. The thing is so loose, I could almost pull it out with my fingers!
