hi I would like to connect to people who have had taste disturbances due to lamisil. I took it for 4 weeks and then suddenly 4 days ago, I have severe taste disturbance. Can anyone offer any advice? I am 45 years old. This is the worst thing that has ever happened to me!
Hi, I feel your pain. Took Lamisil for 31 days and lost my taste a week ago tomorrow. I have lost about 5 lbs. I see in other threads where it may take 2 to 6 weeks to notice any improvement. Tried grilled Burger today, not so good. Been drinking boost to try stop losing weight . .
thanks for your reply. how does boost taste with this condition? I've never tried it. i just tried noodles with wanton soup and it wasn't that bad. wasn't great and couldn't finish it all, but it wasn't bad. Have you found anything to drink that tastes ok besides ice water? this is the worst experience of my life!
Hi. Completely get where you are coming from. This happened to me a couple of years ago. The taste will come back. Different food types take longer. I filled in various forms to the NHS and judging by other feedback so did others. I know it doesnt affect all but I did not get any warning from doctors that this was a side effect. I really think this should be flagged up as like you it was the worst experience especially as it started a week before Christmas and went on through till mid February. P.S. I never lost the taste for cucumber!!!!!!!

Warm vanilla boost or ensure goes down pretty good. I also found that warm water works better than ice water. According to Lynne, it appears that we have to live with this until mid Sept. Last night had salad with oil and vinegar, not too bad. I'm going try boiled cabbage as the cabbage in the salad was descent. I'm also going to try the wanton soup and cucumber.
i will also try cabbage and salad. I went back to my internal med dr this morning. She suggested trying to cleanse my body of this drug by taking 4-6 oz of unsweetened aloe juice and charcoal tablets. YuK
sorry that happened to you during Christmas. I did not get any information on this condition either. My dr said she has never heard of this happening. I'm going to give cucumbers a try.
2nd update today since I'm on vacation this week. I just tried freshly popped popcorn and it was so good! you might want to give that a try!
Its been over a week now since lost taste and stopped taking. The tongue burning has subsided and the fowl constant taste has eased up, water is beginning to taste like water. Now getting a salty sensation in my mouth. Discovered cabbage soup, vegies only, and rice with curry going down pretty well. Got some cucumbers for later today. Hope all is going well there, I believe I am just a couple days ahead of you in this journey. For some reading, check out: https://patient.info/forums/discuss/terbinafine-loss-of-taste-246577
ive been on this dreadful road now for 5 days. your post here is very encouraging, especially with the salty taste perhaps maybe coming back to you. i made the mistake of trying soy sauce. it was absolutely horrid! I am curious about your cabbage soup. thats sounds great! what did you use as the base of the soup? I'm so thankful for this portal and reading everyone's postings on here.
Let me clarify, I cannot taste salt, nor much of anything. I believe that my constant tongue burning and fowl taste has given way to a more constant salty taste in my mouth. From reading other threads, it appears that it may take about 6 weeks to notice substantial improvement. For the cabbage soup, I use vegetable broth, carrots, onions, and garlic. Pepper is OK, but no salt. The only advice I have is to be patient.
hope you are hanging in there. today i tried small saltine crackers and they were good, just no salty flavor. I also tried sunflower seeds and walnuts and both were good. Lastly, I tried a taste of raw honey and it was good. I've been drinking peppermint tea. I'm feeling a bit more encouraged today. One day at a time...
My lack of taste hasn't changed since my last posting. I am surprised that crackers went down well as bread is not at all good for me. I have found nuts to be OK, but I found peanut butter to be awful. My diet has pretty much been rice with curry, salad with oil and vinegar, some beans, and protein shakes. Am looking forward to one day going to a restaurant or putting a big chunk of meat on the grill.
It has been 2 weeks since I lost my taste. The awful constant taste has subsided quite a bit. I have lost about 7 pounds. The other day I touched a piece of candy on tip of tongue and had a quick flavor burst. I popped it in my mouth and about vomited. Living pretty much on salad with oil and vinegar, bean and bacon soup, and nutrition shakes. Cabbage and cucumbers are good in the salad, but stay away from those tomatoes. Those restaurant commercials on TV are torturous.
its been 12 days for me. cucumbers and very ripe deep red tomatoes taste good to me. Basmati white rice, walnuts, sunflower seeds taste ok (not too bad). I've been drinking peppermint tea, which tastes good. also, i tried plantain chips yesterday and those were good. of course, there is still no salty, sweet or any real taste yet. I have lost 6 pounds so far. I am sure it is from the total cut of sugar from my diet. This is so awful and I'm counting the days until this terrible situation passes!
also, can you share more info on your bean and bacon soup? do you have a recipe? that sounds delish!
My bean and bacon soup is from the can, just add water and microwave. Need that protein. It looks like we are on about the same track. Hoping to be over this the first part of Sept. I am dreaming about the buffet.
How are you hanging in there? Any new discoveries? Today i discovered tzaztiki sauce and hummus with a greek salad (no meat). All in all, it went down pretty well. Only really ripe, bright red tomatoes taste like anything. Also, I found that unsweetened tea is tasting good. I've been adding lime to my ice water. I CANNOT wait until this is over!
Mild beer is going down. Grilled chicken breast went down yesterday. Been following my 14 yr old sons advise, just eat it like they eat slugs on survival show. Had the unsweet today, yes that was OK. ill have to try the hummus and that sauce.
I tried the hummus and lime in water. The hummus wasnt so good, but the lime was quite good. My new discovery was tilapia, baked with only lime juice and pepper, no oil. It was quite good. Hope your hanging in there.
