Hi everybody,

I’ll try to make my story short:

I’m a 24 old female. I was in a long relationship, about 3 years ago I noticed a sore down there. Got it swabbed  as soon as I noticed the sore and it was GHSV1. Blood test came back negative for everything else.  I was devastated, the first outbreak was so bad... I was convinced by partner cheated on me. But of course I couldn’t be certain. That relationship ended and I am in a new relationship now... I disclosed to my new partner before sexual contact of course and he was supportive. Well, 6 months later, I had my yearly test and since I’ve had GHSV1, I have been getting blood tested because I am scared to death. Well will you believe this.... the result came back for HSV2!!! Positive! I am so lost. And confused. Could I have had HSV2 all along? Could the swab test be wrong? Did my new partner cheat on me? How can I have both GHSV1 and 2? My symptoms are mild. I’m not on daily suppressive therapy. If I feel it coming I take acyclovir. I’ve had maybe 4 mild break outs over the years.  Any thoughts???? I am so confused as to how I can have both.

Another question for my ladies that have IUD’s. I’m thinking of getting the Paragard. I’ve been on the pill but I am wanting to get off hormones. Any thoughts and experience with this? Did they trigger more outbreaks? Did it hurt?

Thank you everyone. Hugs.

I heard hsv1 is on the lips, any one on the genitals is hsv2,it's not the end of the world you just have to be strong and take your medication,I noticed there were side effects with the pills I can't lie,I noticed visible pops a day after I started taking them

I haven't had any experience about getting paragrad, but I wanna share my experience about herpes infections and its outbreaks. Have you ever asked your current partner to get tested? You still have chance to contract HSV2 from him if he has this virus. Though HSV1 and HSV2 are common and highly contagious infections, you still have a normal life with this virus. You should abstain from sex when noticing some early signs of a new outbreak. It's also important to avoid stress and practice a heatlhy lifestyles to reduce the number of herpes outbreaks. You should have a conversation with your partner and can ask him to get tested for sure
