Hi 3 weeks post op and confused re sex !!! No one else on here has asked but I have read conflicting articles as to when you may resume sexual relationship ! Surly I am not the only hippy to want to know these things !! Consultant never mentioned to me . Most info I have read says must wait at least 6 weeks but I would like to hear from people with experience (no intimate details obviously ha ha )
As I understand it 6 weeks would appear to be the normal advise, but then it seems to be for most things.(Childbirth etc). It also coincides with the lifting of restrictions for most people at a 6 week post op check. My own experience was that it was about right, I was advised to proceed with caution and be the more passive partner at least at first!
No you are no the only hippy with this concern. My doc gave me a phamplet with positions pictured which made this a non issue.
For a female legs over parter lying on back while the partner lays on his side for intercourse. See Internet for positions. It's hard to explain positions without pics. Which is usually the case why most hippies have addresses this with their doc after the two week check up
For the male with THR surgery laying on the back is the appropriate position female on top. Another is the female laying on the stomach legs over side of bed kneeling on floor and the male standing up on the floor, some pillows are involved for comfort and to stay within the restrictions of movement until ok usually 6 - 8 weeks. Usually couples can work out the comfort zone without any issues.
Even if if you find conflicting restrains for positions on the internet it's not a bad idea to try one out until you find a positions that works for you. The pics are very helpful rather than just directions & explanations.
Anyone else care to share?
I waited until the first lot of restrictions had been lifted at 6 weeks and I think that's what most docs/physios advise but of course if you want to try sooner and can find a comfy position which isn't breaking any of your restrictive rules then I'd say give it a go, very gently!
Good luck!

sorry I can't help here ... I mean, I am really really sorry
I think 6 weeks is the general rule, but go with how you feel as long as you don't break any restrictions . also, without getting specific remember intimacy doesn't necessarily have to mean intercourse. 😉 x
Bravo to you for posting this. I don't need this info at present but its good to know where to get infonas one is always hopeful!
So..... At the hip class pre op we were given line drawings of "positions" ....on the page for female patients one of the positions involved a Zimmer frame........imagine my disappointment when I was sent home with crutches!!!! Ha ha ha!
Good arguments! Yes six weeks is the norm but there are several nice things you can do with your lover before then. Take it slowly but yes have fun!
