On Monday 10/12/15 I was tested for every STD and I also received a pregnancy test. I received my results on Wednesday 10/14/15. The pregnancy test came back positive but everything else was negative. I was nervous about the pregnancy but happy to still be clean. Then I came on my period (I read this is not uncommon) and I received a call on 10/16/15 from the doctor's office saying that something had changed. My herpes type 2 test is now positive. I asked for details but all she could tell me was that she (the nurse) received a call from the lab and they offered no further explanation. How is this possible? Has anyone heard of this happening? It went from a negative to a positive in two days. I'm so distraught, emotional and upset. I am definitely having myself tested again and getting my partner tested as well. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I was just told I have it on 10/14 as well. Still waiting for my results. My dr told me the test will say negative if you have never had an outbreak before which I have never had these symptoms. I too started my period the day before I had my appointment. I haven't gotten the def answer yet I should have them on Monday but my dr said it looks like herpes so he's treating me for that. I hope this helps. I'm still very sore and in the healing stage. I went straight to my OBGYN maybe if you went straight to you primary dr you could try an OBGYN since they work directly with that area and probably know more about it and could give you more answers.
did you ever find out why this happened? i got tested on a monday and found out thursday that it was negative. went back to the dr on friday and she said she was going to do a swab test again and 4 days later, she calls and says its positive but by this point, the lesions i had were going away on their own. im so confused!
What kind of HSV test was it? Swab or blood?
