neuropathic pain and muscle fatigue

Hi everyone....I have pain and muscle fatigue throught my body and would be interested in anybody's ideas on the role of exercise..i try gentle walking but fing i cannot stand for long...i take Pregabalin which has modest benefits at best and am considering trying Tramadol again but always find it leaves me short of breath....

Hi Guy, I suffer Neuropathic pain and it is very debilitating. I take Gaberpentin at the moment. I have mobility problems too so i understand your difficulities. Swimming is supposed to be good exercise as its non weight bearing.

Elizabeth.

Hi Elizabeth....thankyou for your input....i hope you are able to find some relief from your pain.....i try to take as few meds as poss but get into this battle of needing to take more but resisting and hoping to try a more natural method like walking....it's vital to have a sense of humour...

Hi guy,I have terrible nerve pain in both legs, over the last 16 year's I have increased, decreased, changed etc medication but in the end what worked for me is 2400 mg gabapentin (3x800) and 200 tramadol (2x 100 slow release), then it was time to start walking of which was very painful after 10..15 minutes, muscles hurt, nerves were awfully painful

but realised that I had to get to my limit then a

little more and over the last 3 year's I now walk 40 minutes 2x a day, lucky I have a dog,I can do no more and probably never will but I fill a bit normal then, the rest of the day I lay down ,I realise you have muscle fatigue as well and what you do might be completely different but what ever goal you set I hope you get there and gradually a little more, good luck. ☺

Me again, sorry guy I meant to say if I had the choice now of uping my gabapentin buy whatever and taking no tramadol I would in a heart beat,my surgeon also says that tramadol is an easy thing to take and prescribe but a really hard thing to stop,a lot of my side affects are from tramadol I hate it,so do me a favour and be very cautious about tramadol, just my opinion lol ,many thanks,

Thankyou Dave for what must have been a huge challenge for you...i am pleased you now have at least found some improvement after such a long time,,,,even finding some pain relief is indeed a most welcome thought....i shall try to reintroduce Tramadol tomorrow morning thankyou...

Hi, I agree with you about Tramadol, i used to take them and now i wouldn't touch them, i have also had Amitriptyine for nerve pain. It's good that people here can understand others with Neuropathic pain, people who don't suffer cannot understand.

Elizabeth.

Hi Dave...thankyou for your thoughts on the pros and cons of Tramadol....i have decided not to take that med today and am jncreasing my dosage of Pregabalin...It is great to share personal experiences via this link...It connects us all with empathy and reason....very best wishes....

Hi Elizabeth.thankyou for joining in this thread with your thoughts and experiences........I generally under medicate because of side effects and all those chemicals going through the body...diffficult though...i understand Nortryptiline is an ok med for neuropathic pain.....hope you are having a good day today....

Hi guy,I moved to Germany in 2011 and after visiting the drs they wondered why I was on so much medication, last year I had spinal cord surgery, like a massive tens machine but in me,battery and all,I don't know if this would be good for your pan,but it helps me and some people even go from 1200mg gabapentin daily to just the machine as the pulse of the machine gets to the brain before the pain,I've had this for a while and after Xmas will start reducing again,I have gone from 3600 gabapentin to 2400 and 400 tramadol to 200,I think clearer and feel better,it's no fix but an alternative to loads of drugs.let me know if I can help. ☺

Hi Dave...thankyou for sharing your experiences...i was offered something along the lines you describe, a few ago when i had a prolonged volatile flare up...i decided not to go for that option at the time but  given the knowledge you have kindly forwarded, it is something i might consider thankyou...Yes the meds add to my debilitating fatigue and make one more floozy in the head...good if you can cut down as and when,,,i live in Cornwall and the consultant service here is quite good..
